honolulu information: Pacific Medical Healthcare & Supply- A SUPERSTORE - 12/20/08 12:20 PM

This past Tuesday I took mom to Pacific Medical Healthcare & Supply so she could get her elasticized stocking to support her leg from ankle to knee. Months ago she injured her leg on the golf course and landed in the hospital with a severed artery. Anyway, she's healed and back to golfing but her leg still gives her problems. (Keep in mind that mom will be 81 years old come January and she is still working at a Country Club four days a week and goes golfing every Monday!)

honolulu information: Super Duper Water Saver Pooper Flusher - 09/09/08 12:25 PM

So, you say you want to be evironmentally aware? Well, there ARE water efficient toilets to conserve on water as well as cut down on the flushing noise.
If there's one thing I am is a light sleeper and with a toilet flushing in the middle of the night is not what I call a good nights sleep. Especially when the darn thing keeps filling up with water slowly until the last part gives a gushing sound that it's finally done.
That was the case with my last toilet. We decided to finish our bathroom with ceramic tile flooring and a water efficient toilet.

honolulu information: Taking Care of Our Honolulu 'Opala' (GARBAGE) - 09/03/08 11:17 AM

Yeah, who wants to talk about the dirt and the scum of the earth?
I do! I do!
Ah...our beautiful Hawaiian paradise and THE environmentally aware residents who keep it that way. Opala (oh pah la) means garbage in Hawaiian. So, of course we take care of our opala. The City & County of Honolulu's Department of Environmental Services, Refuse Division manages the collection, disposal and recycling operations take care of our 'solid waste' with a waste management system.
We may have a great trash man and system but it's up to each individual to KNOW how to dispose or recyle the garbage they create … (31 comments)

honolulu information: A Gas Efficient Vehicle & Hotdogs: At Saturn of Honolulu - 07/22/08 12:07 AM

The Saturday Event!
I've been meaning to write about Saturn of Honolulu for quite sometime now.
You see, my husband has bought two vehicles from Saturn of Honolulu and the latest one due to his driving one job to the next and wanting to cut down on our gas bill.
Well, this past March we decided to go down to Saturn of Honolulu and see what they had. It was a Saturday and wouldn't ya know. They still have barbecue hotdogs and hamburgers on Saturday! WooHoo!

honolulu information: Hawaii (Oahu) Zoning, Special Use and Building Permits - 05/02/07 07:47 PM

I have had MANY inquiries from potential buyer's regarding their buying vacant land on Oahu and I have had to educate them on the zoning laws in Hawaii. Most of them assume they could just come in and buy a bunch of land and start building. Not the case!
For one, our Hawaiian Islands just have so much land on each island. We also have to look out for Restricted Conservation, Restricted Preservation, Agricultural, Country, Beachfront and all the different types of Residential zoning and follow all guidelines with the application for building, rezoning, CPR's etc. We have zoning and building permit "police" and they strictly … (9 comments)
