military in hawaii: Wahiawa Lion’s Club | Veterans Day Parade 2010 - 11/12/10 11:40 AM
Wahiawa is located a few miles from Mililani Town and back in the early to mid 70's Mililani High School wasn't finished so I attended Leilehua High School in Wahiawa. As I watched the Wahiawa Lion's Club Veterans Day Parade yesterday with my daughter, I immediately got caught up in memories as my old Alma Mater ROTC marched by.
My father retired from the US Navy and my son served in the US Navy aboard the USS Kitty Hawk. Veterans Day is an annual US Holiday honoring military veterans and I stood on the side flooded with memories of my (8 comments)
military in hawaii: USAF Thunderbirds at Hickam Air Force Base Hawaii! - 09/22/09 08:29 PM
Everyone wants to get the chance to view the Unites States Air Force Thunderbirds perform high above the heads of patriotic individuals below. This time they took off from Hickam AFB, Hawaii The Thunderbirds and their F-16 Fighting Falcons always have people oohing and ahhhhing during the show and their performance over this last weekend along our South Shore of Oahu was no different. I was very busy so the only chance I got to see it was on my way to Waikele Shopping Center to pick up a few things. Everyone lined the last row of the parking lot with binoculars and (11 comments)
military in hawaii: For Memorial Day- A Tribute to My Son & All Who Served - 05/24/09 01:50 PM
There are no further words to explain the love a mother has for her children; especially if they are in the the mililtary and in a war zone. I wrote the following post: How Can I Stand Here With You- And Not Be Moved By You? back in May of 2007 in memory of the heartwrenching, pull on mom's heartstrings during these times with my son who was in the US Navy. The day the war broke out on March 19th, it was my son's birthday and he was on the USS Kitty Hawk ...and in the Persian Guld. ...................You're "Everything". This (14 comments)
military in hawaii: The Moving Golf Ball in the Pacific - 01/21/09 11:26 PM
Would you believe this giant golf ball traveled 4,000 miles around the Pacific Ocean between December of 2007 and April of 2008? Well, it's not really a golf ball like those you're thinking of after the Big Sony Open this last week here at Waialae Country Club. Up on the H-1 freeway off ramp I saw IT 'back in port' this past Saturday. (Actually, I found out it came back to port on the 3rd) We got off on the Waimalu exit and with excitement of a blogger gone wild wanting to take a picture specifically for this post I order my husband to Blaisdell Park. Leeward Community College is located at 96-045 Ala Ike - Pearl City, HI 96782 in Honolulu County on the island of Oahu. military in hawaii: The NEX Shopping Plaza - Pearl Harbor- Hawaii - 08/07/08 02:37 PM
Yesterday my daughter and I went to the Super Shopping Plaza. The NEX (Navy Exchange) at Pearl Harbor. The NEX back in 1967 was a single story old building with a couple of separate ones scattered around the Moanalua Shopping Center area and up the road from the Makalapa Gate- Pearl Harbor Navy Base. A few years ago they built this giant double level mall NEX consisting of 275,000 sq. ft of oodles of shopping, other stores and a giant Commissary too. It is Hawaii's Largest Navy Exchange and named the "2006 Bingham Award" winner for excellence and outstanding performance. Not only is this "mall" HUGE (14 comments)
military in hawaii: More on the Land Rush ....Creating YOUR OWN Communities - 08/07/08 12:18 AM
Bob Stewart - ActiveRain (ActiveRain) is supposed to write on the topic of Creating Communities for Localism although I can imagine the bombardment with the LAND RUSH going on. I wanted to give my opinion on concerns that arose of diluting the communities and cities within our counties and creating our own niche market communities. There have got to be rules too, right? For one. We have our own problems with just the geographical areas alone. In Hawaii, there were bases listed as cities and communities listed in cities that didn't belong (one of them I added in back in early 2007 by (57 comments)
military in hawaii: The USS Kitty Hawk Arrives in Pearl Harbor Hawaii - 07/02/08 08:28 PM
My son was in the United States Navy and stationed aboard the USS Kitty Hawk air craft carrier based out of Yokosuka, Japan until the summer of 2006. He was aboard the ship and in the Persian Gulf the day the war was announced on March 19th, 2003 and I, as a mom, was sick to stomach and besides myself with worry. It was his birthday. I didn't hear from my son for a couple of months. READ MORE HERE He served his ship and his country well, and when the ship pulled into Pearl Harbor yesterday my son was so excited! He has (37 comments)
military in hawaii: It's the Quality of Relationships That THIS Professional is Worth - 06/26/08 11:55 AM
The most rewarding feeling is a repeat client who comes back for not twice ...but three times. This is the story: This is one of the few most faithful, loyal and valued clients I've had. Why? Because my business is based on the quality of relationships I have with my clients. I'm not a dead door mat and I don't have a bunch of "lines". Just straightforward talk ...no bones about it. This is what it is and this is what you have to look forward to. This gentleman and his wife bought, sold and now bought again through me. He has (40 comments)
Sharon Simms came to Hawaii in January for the CRS Sellabration at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and she and her daughter also got to do a little sightseeing. Along the way to the North Shore they stopped by Mililani Town and noticed (actually she was in awe) of the rainbows around and above the Mililani area. A slight drizzle coming from the Koolau Mountains will give an array of colors for many wonderful rainbow shows throughout the year over Mililani, Waipio Gentry, Schofield Barracks, Wahiawa and Wheeler Army Air Field.
Of course rainbows are rampant all over Oahu...but these wonderful shows are right in our neighborhood. (19 comments)
All branches of the military occupy a large portion of Oahu and I recently put together a Hawaii Military Relocation Package - Schofield Barracks & Wheeler Army Air Field for the Military Relocating & Transferring to Honolulu County Hawaii . Many military personnel have not been to Hawaii before so they obviously do not know what neighborhood is closest to the Honolulu County Military Base they will be stationed. So it is without question they do not know which neighborhood they should look for their next Hawaii Home purchase. The following map I tried to detail just about all of the Military Bases on Oahu in Honolulu County (the (34 comments)
military in hawaii: Going Above and Beyond (Part III- From Call to Contract) - 12/20/07 12:22 PM
Currently, my buyer is in contract for a Mililani Condo and it is from a direct hit from an ActiveRain post that I received this wonderful client. My client contacted me after reading my ActiveRain post *Across the Ocean to Paradise: Military Relocations Hawaii* on the internet. I created this series so you can follow along with this transaction because this is my FIRST transaction that WILL close that was a direct hit from ActiveRain. Exciting? Yes! I moreso want to stress the importance of how ActiveRain has helped many with leads and getting contacts from potential clients. Photo to right: Mariner's Ridge looking (33 comments)
