real estate profession blogging for business: Why Your Blog Will Fail in 2011 - 01/04/11 01:45 PM
At one time or another we all will blog about our success (and failures?) with blogging for our business. Bob Stewart (ActiveRain) writes about why a blog will fail in 2011.
Not only is his thinking on target (not to mention years of expertise and experience) but clarifies what will make your blog successful in the coming months.
More often than not, people tend to believe blogging should have instant success with a bunch of leads instantaneously falling from the sky.  Doesn't work like that. As in our business, so will be in our marketing techniques. We grab the attention of our potential clients with … (10 comments)

real estate profession blogging for business: Do You Have Written Permission to Divulge Information? - 02/14/10 12:05 PM
It is our fiduciary duty to NOT divulge personal information about our clients without permission. WE protect and promote our clients' interests while treating all parties honestly.  There are just some personal things that a client does not want the public to know or feels it's none of their business.
Their life, their reasons for selling, their family life are all personal and it is not up to a Realtor® to give out that information unless the seller gives specific instructions to do so.  We protect their interests.
When a client does ask that I divulge why they're moving/selling then … (58 comments)

real estate profession blogging for business: What ActiveRain Has Done For Me...and Can Do For You! - 09/20/09 02:32 PM
For those of you that are wondering exactly "What Can ActiveRain Do For You"....
Let me tell you MY story of "What ActiveRain Has Done For Me".
I was fortunate that I started blogging on ActiveRain back in March of 2007 because this network allowed me to grow while learning the who, what, when, why, how and where about basic blogging practices. I started with ‘no clue' about blogging but jumped in wholeheartedly to find out. Yup, that's me. The need to know.
I've written so many posts here regarding my feelings about ActiveRain and most recently What is ActiveRain? … (41 comments)

real estate profession blogging for business: MORE than Words - 06/09/09 11:43 PM

WORDS play a big part in determining an outcome of a situation and can greatly impact how another person is perceived.  In person, the attitude of a person and the behavior that goes along with it can surely give us an idea on how a person's is. The demeanor and personality of a person will determine what we believe to be true. Okay, some can really play it off with actress/actor abilities although sooner or later the true colors of a person's mind eventually shines through.
What we say and how we say it can depict the tone of a … (31 comments)

real estate profession blogging for business: Get OFF My Blog! - 06/07/09 01:09 PM
There will always be sour pusses who do not agree with what we write, right? Right. I mentioned the other day how I was getting a anonymous comments by a 'so called Real Estate professional' last week commenting on a 5 month old post. Continuously kept coming back and turning the whole conversation to 'self' and starting to attack my credibility.
Well, I put a stop to it when the 'hiding behind the keyboard' person would not come out of hiding at my invitation. Did you know that there is a box you can uncheck or check for Non Member Comments?

real estate profession blogging for business: Formatting Your Blog Posts or Driving The Reader Away? - 04/30/09 08:42 PM
How many of you look at the formatting of a blog post before commenting? If it's eye appealing, easy on the eyes and has a few 'breaks' in the post with a couple of bold words to create a highlight for the sentence and maybe a picture or two...of good quality to enhance that post...won't you take the time to read it?
Of course, content is the major part of the post. Or...supposed to be. Bring on a rant or negative post and you have 50k + members running to give their input. Have a great Localism, Real Estate or Mortgage … (62 comments)

real estate profession blogging for business: Homework Assignment from Broker Bryant - 04/10/09 05:47 PM
The following homework assignment was proposed to us by Bryant Tutas Broker/REALTOR(R) Tutas Towne Realty, Inc.  He wrote a post Is it brains, brawn or beauty? and asks these questions:
What sets you apart from other REALTORS(R) in your area? Why would the consumer choose to work with you instead of your competition? Once you have their business, what do you do to keep it? Well, I like homework assignments so I'm going to do it during a slow Good Friday morning at the office. (yes, I finished what needed to be done so far....besides, I'm a multi tasker LOL).
Here goes:

real estate profession blogging for business: Fell in a Rut...Now What? - 10/09/08 11:43 AM

You live on the edge and you're spending all that money as you make it and live from commission check to commission check. Paying off all those monthly car bills for that brand new BMW you just had to have because everyone else had one.
Then, while all your clients were buying homes with loan programs that would put them in the red in two years you did the same. Hey, why not? Everyone is buying and everyone is keeping up with the what everyone else is doing. Coach purses and Bebe T-shirts that cost over a hundred dollars.
