I Smell Beaufort!!! - 01/30/09 12:45 PM
After two incredibly long weeks of Real Estate Broker courses, it was finally time to pack up and head east. Not to discount the earth moving material covered in the class, but boy was I ready to come back to Beaufort. I have read that smell is one of the strongest senses. At times I have even wished that were not true. On Friday, I couldn't have been happier to have a great sniffer! It depends on who you ask and possibly where you are standing in regards to the answer to the age old, "What is that

I Need A Bail OUT!!! No Really! - 01/27/09 10:45 AM
I am sure most of you are familiar with the MDA annual Lock-Up. Someone turned me in and it is my responsibility to raise my bail. It is for an extremely good cause. I am blessed with good health as is most of my family. I wouldn't normally use Active Rain for this type of request; however, it seems forgivable. I know times are a bit tough, but there is always a way to help. I would be most appreciative of any contributions! Click Here TO GET ME OUT OF JAIL

Yabba Dabba Dooooo! Real Estate in the Stone Age - 01/26/09 10:39 AM
Today begins my second week of classes for my Broker's license. As a former high school teacher, there is simply not an adequate supply of self-discipline to hinder my obvious disdain for the monotonous. As an industry so entrenched in the latest and greatest technology how is it that our required courses are right out of Bedrock!?!? Seriously people. The methods are so historical in application (hand calculating Escrow accounts...etc) that I am quite certain my hair became gray at the very idea. ***Disclaimer, I find gray hair attractive, distinguished, and full of character. Just not on me*** Why is

Snow In South Carolina, A New President, and Turnip Greens - 01/20/09 07:04 PM
No matter who you are, where you are, or even your political view, there is no denying today was special. At mornings first light I woke to find a Southern rarity. SNOW. I am currently in Columbia, South Carolina taking my broker's course. Outside my hotel window, my eyes were treated to flakes, flurries and a beautiful white topping that simply isn't typical in beautiful South Carolina. I felt like a little girl. My first instinct was to hurry downstairs and make the biggest and best snowball ever made. Adulthood kicked in and I realized that should I decide to launch this

Sold in TWO days! The Makeover of A Community - 01/13/09 08:29 AM
In today's market where many agents are extremely cautious about taking on new listings, I took on an entire development. A development that had been listed almost a year with absolutely no success. What was I thinking? I was thinking that somehow the previous marketing strategy completely missed the mark. The previous company, an icon in our area, wasn't accustomed to catering to first time buyers. A tremendous company with outstanding agents, just not as familiar with the needs of this community's target. This new community was exactly what so many of my buyers had been searching for however, I didn't

Why I Have Been Away - 01/08/09 07:38 AM
I am humbled that so many of you have noticed my recent absence. Thank you for the emails. I look forward to getting back to Active Rain soon. For now, the majority of my day is spent with my very sick, very scared best friend, Jackson. I have written many posts about him and his impact on my life. It is true, for some of you, he is "only a dog". This dog has been the one constant throughout my life. He has been slightly "off" for the past week. I thought it may be depression or moodiness because my job

I am NOT fond of Short Leashes. - 01/02/09 09:38 AM
Stop Jackson. Sit Jackson. Don't sniff that Jackson. Jackson, did you eat the whole box of sweet tarts!?!?! That pretty closely sums up my New Years Day. At the mature age of 13, one would assume most of the undesirable habits were long gone. Not with Jackson. He is the one part of my life in which no matter what I do, I simply can't control or predict the next move. Thank goodness. He is just like his owner. Although, I tend to spend most of my time on only two legs, we are painstakingly similar: I am not fond of
