My Monday Morning Prayer - 06/28/10 09:27 AM
As I stumble out of bed and sprint towards the coffee maker I wonder if I am the only one who begins each Monday with the following prayer:
Dear Lord,
Please get me to the coffee maker quickly and safely.
Please forgive me for the words I say when I realize it is empty.
Help me to remember all my blessings as I get behind a driver who has no where to go and is getting there at turtle speed.
Soften my tone as my first phone call is from an attorney explaining yet another delay on my closing that seems … (13 comments)

I Am Supporting Local Farmers, Local Families, Local Charm and I Love IT - 06/22/10 05:20 PM
There are no squeaky wheels, no plastic bags, no National Inquirer or People magazines near the check out counter. No need to dig through poor wilted produce in hopes of finding even one healthy vegetable. You will; however, need sunscreen, comfy shoes, preferably blue skies (not required) and a bucket.

Welcome to Dempsey Farms in Beaufort South Carolina. Where you pick your very own vegetables! I love walking through the seemingly endless rows of gorgeous tomatoes and peppers. Their cantelope is addictive, and don't even think of taking my watermelon.
There is something so simple, so basic, so very amazing … (4 comments)

I Don't Want To Be Angelina Jolie - 06/18/10 12:02 PM
I don't want to be a rock star, they wear far too uncomfortable clothes. I don't want to be president, they age far too fast. I don't want to be Angelina Jolie, for far too many reasons.
I want to be Oprah. I want to have the ability to give everyone a car. Wow, that must be an amazing feeling. I want to know that any issue I take on, will be THE ISSUE. When Oprah speaks, the world listens. Why? Oprah makes sense. She is passionate, inspiring, honest. She is real..

I don't consider myself to be overly star … (7 comments)

Somebody at DR Horton Thinks I am Cool - 06/18/10 09:05 AM
I have often pondered the true value of testimonials. Do prospects really pay attention to what others say? What is the best use of a testimonial? Should it be framed on my desk, attached to my website, tattooed to my .....well..you can see I am not absolutely certain how testimonials effect the general public.
What I am certain of however, is the effect it had on me! For a moment I was transformed back to elementary school. Remember the days of tiny Valentine cards? As students we spent intense, heartfelt hours preparing a brown bag that would hopefully be the final … (16 comments)

Why Sellers Should Have Their Very Own Website~ - 06/11/10 08:14 PM
The days of signs and fliers bringing buyers is one of the past. Great looking signs, wide angle photos, and Shakespearean descriptions are standard not exceptional. The most important job of a listing agent is to sell not necessarily just to list.
By now we can all agree that the Internet is the first impression most prospective buyers have of a property, therefore making maximum Internet exposure crucial. The impressive photos and poetic description are only effective if found.
There is a plethora of avenues for listing agents to maximize exposure. Many are free, some are inexpensive, and others just … (7 comments)

Update: With The Power of 183,675 - 06/11/10 09:31 AM
At the beginning of the week, I wrote a post about how using Active Rain gave me an advantage with a prospective client. I created a presentation for a developer showcasing the service of my team and how we are the only choice as his new community marketing specialist.
In that presentation, I highlighted the benefits of being an active member in the rain. It was the first time I had included it in any presentation. Not sure why, maybe I was crazy! It will remain in my presentations from this point forward.
Yesterday the prospect contacted me for a second … (2 comments)

Two Brothers Remember A Mothers Lesson and Save A Life!!! - 06/09/10 03:42 PM
The article below (copied from the Island Packet, link below goes directly to article) is a great representation of Lowcountry soul. Two brothers paid attention to their mothers respect of the river, and in turn saved a life.
As Reported in the Island Packet:
Evelina Mitchell taught her sons early in life to be "river friendly" -- to be prepared for the worst every time they slip into the creek in a handmade bateau to bring home crabs, oysters, shrimp or mullet.
Those lessons of long ago paid big dividends for a Hilton Head Island man who had a heart attack while sculling … (2 comments)

With The Power of 183,675 - 06/07/10 06:34 AM
In just a few short hours, I will be speaking in front of a prospective client that could possibly ensure the financial stability of my real estate group over the next few years. My presentation is flawless, my answers accurate and current.
Where did such an experienced, successful, well known builder/developer find my team? You got it. My online presentation of my recent new development, Carolina Village led this powerhouse right to my door.
Without Active Rain giving me an avenue to freely market myself as well as my listings, there is no way my community or my name would … (46 comments)

Marketing A Community~ It is More than Flyers and Fun - 06/05/10 08:36 AM
For the second time in less than 6 months, a reporter has contacted me regarding the success of Carolina Village. Carolina Village is a quaint, happy, thriving community in Beaufort, SC. It isn't brand new, it doesn't have a multimillion dollar marketing team, and there isn't some secret potion that is doused on buyers when they view the homes.

Frequently, I am asked what is it about this particular new construction project that far exceeded the performance of others. Why did homes sell in Carolina Village when they didn't in other areas? How did we get attention of buyers in … (17 comments)

It Is Like Coffee with A Friend, That Simple - 06/01/10 06:28 PM
Recently a fellow Realtor asked me a question that is becoming more and more common in my day to day encounters with professionals in the industry. She asked me, "How do you know how to blog?" It would be great if I had an impressive, technical, make me look smart kind of answer; I don't.
It seems to me those who are hesitant to begin have the impression that it is something to fear. It really isn't. It may even be an emerging form of therapy.
It could be a personal opinion; however, I find that my favorite bloggers write simply, truthfully, … (50 comments)
