beaufort sc military relocation: I Fell In Love With My Client~~A Memorial Day Reminder - 05/30/10 10:30 AM
I did the unthinkable; I fell in love with my client. It wasn't planned, no blind date jitters, none of my friends elbowing each other under the table. It just happened.
Let me explain.
This young man is a charismatic, happy, mannerly, and of course, handsome Drill Instructor for the United States Marines.
I met him after he contacted me through email (found me on, yep you guessed, it Active Rain).
We corresponded while he was checking out of his station post in Okinawa, Japan.
He needed a home, a home very close to Parris Island (Marine Recruit Station).  By time he … (7 comments)

beaufort sc military relocation: Jarheads, Devildogs, Husband or Wife....Happy Birthday USMC! - 11/10/09 08:23 AM
Ahhh yes.  Today is the 234th birthday of the Marine Corps.  I don't think it's any coincidence that the Corps started in a bar, do you?
Whether you call them gyrenes, jarheads, leathernecks, devildogs, husband/wife, son/daughter or boyfriend/girlfriend, they are devastatingly good looking in their dress blues, no?

Now, the Marine Corps has many traditions and the one most closely associated with THE BIRTHDAY is the Birthday Ball.

I have attended plenty of Birthday balls and although these fetes start off as formal, they don't end that way.  I could make the post about Ball antics, but I would … (8 comments)

beaufort sc military relocation: A German Shepard, A Russian Carpet Installer, and A Dominican Client - 03/18/09 07:57 PM
We all have gone above and beyond for those clients that we just adore for one reason or the other. I am certain you too have stories of things you have done that you most likely thought you would not do under normal circumstances.
Early this morning I received a phone call from a Marine that purchased a home from me not too long ago.
I wasn't expecting the phone call, but was happy to hear from him nonetheless.
In his horse, drill instructor voice, he asked me if there was any chance I could meet the Lowes carpet installer at … (14 comments)

beaufort sc military relocation: America's 911 - 12/09/08 05:19 AM
Now that is the first time I have heard it put that way! As I was preparing for my next real estate class for military personnel, a gentleman walked in and started asking me questions.
He was in uniform, and I am pretty sure he had a gun or three, so I put down my notes and listened attentively.
"Public speaking is most people's number one fear", he said.

I replied...
"Well, Sir, the speaking doesn't really bother me, but standing in front of fifty plus Marines is pretty intimidating."
He actually looked shocked.
"How can you be intimated by … (23 comments)

beaufort sc military relocation: US Marines....And Many More.. - 11/07/08 06:15 AM
They have come a long way from the tavern in Philadelphia where the Corps was founded 233 years ago. Beaufort is so proud to be able to join in celebrating such an amazing birthday.

As non-military, my appreciation is from a different perspective, but true just the same.
Dear Marines,
Thank you for waking at 3am so that I can sleep as long as I like.
Thank you for going to scary places so I don't have to go.
Thank you for sacrificing time with your family, so that mine can freely meet.
Thank you for believing in our country … (12 comments)
