beaufort sc real estate: Snow Visits Beautiful Beaufort By The Sea - 02/13/10 04:03 AM
Last night at exactly 8:08pm I went from being 30 something:) to 5 in less than ten minutes. Never before had I seen snow flakes fall along the rivers of Beaufort. Never before had I seen Palm trees coated in the whitest, softest,  most magnificent accessory that danced down in sheets.
Sitting in one of my favorite Beaufort Restaurants, Saltus, I completely lost any semblance of adulthood. To the detriment of my dinner guests, I quickly chose to forego the wine in exchange for a snow cone! How could I not?
I am from Mississippi. It isn't like snow is a … (7 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: They Require More Than A New Address - 02/06/10 02:20 AM
I must admit, being a retro pin up queen is a bit tiring. I didn't realize hosting an all female party would be more physically demanding than running a three mile dash. But oh is it so much more fun! Last night I hosted a client appreciation event at our top local spa, Aqua Med Spa.
There was a very specific reason for the location, the theme, and the female only restriction.
Many of my clients are brand new to the area. They suffer from Newcomers-itus, a most paralyzing condition for social women!  At a closing a few weeks ago, one … (9 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: If You Don't Someone Else Will~ Client Appreciation Events - 02/04/10 10:07 PM
How do you show appreciation to your clients? Thank you notes, closing gifts, automated birthday cards? If you aren't taking the time or putting forth the energy to show appreciation, you may find your client database dwindling.
2009 was one of my best years in real estate. I learned many valuable lessons, many expensive lessons, and a few painful ones as well. By far one of my most valuable came from desperation. Don't they always?
Fortunately, my client base has grown and matured into a reliable, consistent, and most necessary source of revenue. It took many years to build, many hours … (7 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: Because It's Raining!!!!! - 02/02/10 12:09 AM
My entire home smells like chicken. Not because I found a stray feathered friend, well not this time anyway, but because I spent at least three hours cooking for my Broker Open House.
I had the whole day planned out to a tea (that would be Sweet Tea, the gallons that grace my fridge). It was going to be fabulous. Good food, a great turn out, and a very happy seller. Basically everyone would be singing my praises.
The one minor detail I somehow overlooked, 100% chance of a freakin monsoon rain. I could have lived with that except for the … (7 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: Dolphins Play In Beautiful Beaufort South Carolina - 01/19/10 12:54 PM
Beaufort, South Carolina is home to many special creatures. Our little town is blessed with a climate that attracts mother nature's most beautiful friends.

When sharing Beaufort with visitors it is always amazing to see and hear the reaction upon their first encounter with the dolphins.
I remember my first encounter and to this day, will stop whatever I am doing to watch them play.
There is a gentleness, a calmness, an angelic comfort that is felt almost instantly when they surround the boat.
Click here to watch them play, jump, and say hello to Beaufort Visitors.
It isn't by … (4 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: This IS NOT a SLOW Season! It is A Time To KNOW Season - 01/19/10 12:31 PM
Any experienced Realtor knows very well the time it can take to find the right property. Although the warm spring days of April may seem a world away, it is much closer.

The expanded and extended tax credit is just one reason to pry yourself off of the buying fence. With the interest rate consistently perched at lower levels than many of us have seen, inventory primed due to high level of competition, and sellers willing to compromise; the perfect storm is upon us.

To the agents who are snuggled under the misconception that now is a … (5 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: If You're Happy And You Know it Clap Your Hands *clap* *clap* - 01/10/10 12:22 AM
Maybe it stems from my former life as a teacher. Those preschoolers certainly had a way of putting just about all of life's quandaries in perspective. Having a bad morning? Hug someone. Fell and scraped your knee? Band-Aid. Feel like screaming? Scream as loud as possible for 5 minutes. Cured.
I remember well how quickly their sniffles, tears, and yes smiles could spread like wildfire through a hey barn. Which leads me to the comparison of the attitudinal atmosphere in the real estate industry. It isn't a far stretch to see the similarities in story time and association meetings. Humor me.

beaufort sc real estate: Marketing Only Gets An Agent SO Far~ - 01/07/10 11:18 PM
I think I may need to send a fellow Realtor a thank you note, or at the very least an appreciative smile. This particular gentleman has been absolutely fantastic for my business. This morning, I received my 5th buyer client in less than 2 months from this lovely man.
I am pretty certain he isn't doing it on purpose. It is always the same story, the prospective client calls me a bit frustrated that they can't get him to return a phone call, or he didn't seem to really listen, or he was at his other job every time they … (50 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: Frequented Much Less By My Rear End~~~ - 01/03/10 12:48 AM
It is that time of year again. People rushing to the gym, swearing off vice after vice, and goals abound.
I am no different. I have goals coming out of my ears; however, they don't include a gym membership or a price tag.
2009, although universally difficult, was all in all a banner year for self improvement. Most of us couldn't afford the stuff we didn't need therefore learning we didn't, in fact, need it at all! Connections became more important as we depended on others for support, encouragement, and often business solutions! We worked harder, smarter, and rather than rushing out to by the … (15 comments)

beaufort sc real estate: Sellers~ Ask the Important Questions! - 12/20/09 11:32 PM
So you can't put it off any longer. It is time to declutter, repaint, redo, clean like a crazy person, but Sellers, don't forget to Ask The Important Questions! I know the information is coming at you at the speed of thought, but few things are as crucial as the brief list below. When you meet with prospective Realtors make sure you get answers to the following:
1. How many listings do you have?Ok, (before listing gurus come to lynch me) having many listings IS NOT necessarily a bad thing; however, having too many for too long IS a bad thing. There … (8 comments)

2009  Realtors Thanksgiving Prayer
Thank you for all the little things
Emails requesting help with a dream
A cell phone that fortunately, still rings
And someone to explain what the tax credit means.

Give me patience for neighbors
And family and friends
Who see Realtor and think enemy
Lord, continue to help me grin.

Thank you for cars that work
and websites that run
High heels that don't hurt
And deals that get done.

beaufort sc real estate: Jarheads, Devildogs, Husband or Wife....Happy Birthday USMC! - 11/10/09 12:23 AM
Ahhh yes.  Today is the 234th birthday of the Marine Corps.  I don't think it's any coincidence that the Corps started in a bar, do you?
Whether you call them gyrenes, jarheads, leathernecks, devildogs, husband/wife, son/daughter or boyfriend/girlfriend, they are devastatingly good looking in their dress blues, no?

Now, the Marine Corps has many traditions and the one most closely associated with THE BIRTHDAY is the Birthday Ball.

I have attended plenty of Birthday balls and although these fetes start off as formal, they don't end that way.  I could make the post about Ball antics, but I would … (8 comments)
