It seems like our weekends have been consumed by weddings lately. Just one month ago, our son Jake married a very beautiful Australian named Rebecca Tapia. Ever since, they have enjoyed a wonderful honeymoon in Thailand and now reside in Perth, Australia. Rebecca is performing and Jake is pursuing his Masters degree. Nevertheless, Cherise and I attended a beautiful wedding this weekend at The Club At Flying Horse, located in Colorado Springs. Although the wedding was very special, it brought back our feelings of having undergone this joyous occasion as parents, including the anxieties about the wedding details and the (16 comments)
After all the Ben Stein jokes, and of course, governmental criticism and the sort, there were no specific solutions presented by this economist for any long term economic solutions for the United States. Except, he did mention one, which Cherise and I have been living by for quite some time. Mr. Stein said the main solution for today’s economic woes is a spiritual solution. He indicated that each person needs to have an internal discipline and a certain type of faith. Personal reconstruction was highly advised against the stormy weather of our government – including our political and economic systems. (12 comments)
Last night Integrity Bank & Trust hosted The Economic Forum featuring guest speaker Ben Stein. The evening was well attended, including the Colorado Springs Realtors from Selley Group Real Estate, LLC. Of course, everyone in attendance was somewhat jittery about the staggering US economy and how this might affect the future of our markets, including real estate in Colorado Springs. What I took away from the evening can be summed up nicely in this blog. We spend approximately 40 billion dollars per day on our current debt of around 14.5 trillion dollars. Starting in Colorado Springs on Monday, August 22nd is where the USA Pro Cycling Challenge kicks off the prologue phase of this new professional stage race in the United States, featuring 128 world-class riders from all over the world. This is not only fantastic news for Colorado Springs and Colorado, but for the entire United States, in regards to the professional cycling industry. We did it, yes we did. Living out what we believe is sometimes harder than we think. And truthfully, very few of us actually take those scary steps out of our comfort zones to experience different facets of life. Looking back five years ago, I was physically unable to do what we did yesterday. And when considering our tight bond to our business as we’ve worked full-time + for the past 14 years, we would have never taken Wednesday off to do something new for ourselves, unless we happened to be on vacation.

With the inflammable volatility of the DOW, Nasdaq and S&P, I’ve been asked if our Colorado Springs Real Estate market has hit rock bottom, and whether or not there is an exact guarantee of profitability if someone decides to invest in a residential property. What a loaded question! My answer is very straightforward, without added mysticism or surprise economics. Without offending others about my beliefs regarding absolute truth, as this relates to God, my answer is this. Make no mistake about it. The recent economic downgrading is the cherry on top of the pie of problems we face daily, whether watching TV, Internet, Smart devices, etc. And there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. The temptation is to react as quickly as possible. To make decisions to counteract the possible adverse effects this might have on our lives. As a Colorado Springs CO Realtor, I am not going to try to sell anyone a residential property in Colorado Springs based upon the principles of fear. It’s surreal. Just over one week ago Jake (23) & Rebecca (26) exchanged their marriage vows during their wedding ceremony at the Briarhurst Manor Estates in Manitou Springs around 7 pm. Two weeks prior to this event it had been raining nearly every afternoon. And when I refer to raining, it has been down pouring, something we’ve haven’t really experienced in Colorado for many years, as with nearly every part of our country where the change in weather patterns has been very dramatic. Normally I’d refrain from posting happy birthday wishes onto public blog sites, but in this highly unusual case, this time is different. Jake got married this weekend and has left with his new bride, Rebecca Selley, to Sydney, Australia. They left on August 1st and will land in Sydney at 6 am on August 3rd. So basically, Jake is missing his birthday celebration as they are flying from Los Angeles to Sydney, then onto Thailand for their honeymoon.
Nonetheless, Jake’s birthday is not forgotten by Cherise and me. If you read this Jake, know we love you tremendously and (12 comments)
