facebook: Still gonna kick Zuckerberg's skinny nerd a$$ - 07/13/11 04:06 PM
Most Active Rain members are familiar with creating community pages on FaceBook. Are you aware that there are also AUTO-GENERATED community pages? You cannot post content to auto generated community pages. In theory, auto-generated pages pull their content from everyone's FaceBook postings that contain the revelant community words. Well, I don't think its working so good. Anyone here ever had any experience with claiming and taking possession of an auto-generated community page?? Ima gonna try and report back....... http://beta.beantin.se/facebook-community-pages-auto-generated/ http://www.contractortalk.com/f12/facebooks-new-profile-relation-business-page-auto-generated-community-pages-89757/ http://www.localnetresults.com/Facebook-Fix.html http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/facebook-community-pages-what-your-business-needs-to-know/

facebook: How to populate a FaceBook Fan Page with blog posts via RSS Feed - 04/17/11 08:42 AM
How to populate a FaceBook Fan Page with blog posts via RSS Feed (This is one of those things I do infrequently, so the chances of my remembering the steps until the next time I need to perform the task are slim..... but if I jot the steps down here in an Active Rain post, I can usually find them again when I need them) :-) Sign in to FaceBook then go to https://www.facebook.com/pages/browser.php Click on "Pages I Admin" in the upper right Select one of your fan pages, click Edit Page Click Apps

facebook: Create RSS feed of your Facebook status updates - 12/15/10 08:41 AM
FaceBook does not make it simple to grab an RSS feed of your status stream. If you search online, you will find several tutuorials such as http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=293427798680 Which is great, but I thought I could make it a little quicker and easier. 1. Log in to FaceBook 2. Go to http://www.facebook.com/notifications.php 3. Click on via RSS. This will display an RSS feed of notifications, that is, comments and activities of your FaceBook friends. 4. Look up at your browser's address bar. See the word notifications? 5. Place your cursor at the end (or beginning) of the word notifications and delete

facebook: FaceBook Changes - 02/09/10 06:33 AM
FaceBook made some changes to their interface yesterday. NikNik posted 10 Very Useful Tips here for navigating the new FaceBook layout. One of those changes is especially annoying for someone who uses FaceBook the way I use FaceBook. It seems the ability to set a particular Friend List as my default newsfeed is gone. The ability to create and edit lists is still there, look up in the upper right corner under Account -> Edit Friends. And the ability to read the lists individually is still there, look in the left column, click on "Friends" and there are your Friend Lists, click

facebook: Facebook: Business Pages - 12/01/07 09:19 AM
You probably have already joined Facebook, and created a profile there. Did you know you can also create a (FREE) Facebook Page for your business? Go to http://www.facebook.com/business/ -- Click on Facebook Pages Click Create a Facebook Page Start creating the Page. Here's a little curiosity. The logical category for an agent or broker would be "Local Business" ->"Real Estate", right? But if you enter your page in the Real Estate category, the detailed information page will not give you a box for "General Information". Huh? Only "Public Transit". While I love the environmentally conscious idea of throngs of people visiting my office via the light rail,

facebook: FaceBook Fan Groups - 11/27/07 06:58 AM
Dan Wiess will probably want to throw me out of the FaceBook Tips Group for such blatantly trollish behaviour. But, hey, the big game is only 4 days away! And this post is about FaceBook! Sort of. You probably know there are "Fan" groups on Facebook. Well, I'm a member of the USC Football fan group. But, please note, I am only a miserable "waterboy" because I has been remiss about recruiting other fans. So, if you are an Active Rain member, and a Trojan Football fan, please leave a comment here, and I will send you an fan invite next time I'm logged

facebook: The Trouble With FaceBook - 11/26/07 07:21 AM
Here's my FaceBook rant, and I'm pretty sure it is an annoyance for other people as well: Everytime you install a new FaceBook application, the app asks you to invite all your friends. And I think most folks just click OK without giving it much thought. Hence, all the FaceBook join this new app/join that new app emails. The apps all offer a "Skip" option, but I'm not sure many people notice it. Here are some other rumbles of discontent, Trent Adams here: http://trentadams.com/2007/08/27/facebook-apps-killing-me/ Buzz Network here: http://www.buzznetworker.com/facebook-applications-the-new-spam-part-1/ Bogle's Blog here: http://thebogles.com/blog/2007/11/are-facebook-apps-killing-facebook/ Guy Kawasaki linked to this in his twitter stream: http://truemors.com/?p=18202 ResPres (AKA Jeff Turner) replied to Guy: More: Tech Crunch:

facebook: LivePads On Facebook - 10/20/07 06:55 AM
I confess. I haven't made the time to go workout on Facebook for a while. I keep receiving emails that people are poking me, befriending me, and whatever else, but I am afraid I have been MIA. This announcement yesterday on Inman News might change that: The LivePads application, available at http://apps.facebook.com/livepads, allows Facebook users who are searching for a home to enter their desired criteria for a home, to view a list of possible matches pulled from the Google Base site, and to save houses they like to their Facebook profiles. They can also choose to share these sample homes with a

facebook: Figuring Out FaceBook - 06/18/07 05:52 AM
Last week I joined Facebook, just like many other AR members. It wasn't long before my News Feed and Mini-Feed were filled with notices of stuff posted by my friends. And other than "My Wall" I couldn't see how the heck to post anything. For example, it seems you can't post and share links without a "Posted Items" module, and your "Posted Items" module does not appear until after you have posted something. Just in case any others here are as befuddled as I was, here's the deal: Start by posting a listing, (that's always a good place to start for a real

Caution: CAT BLOG AHEAD
Including random thoughts on life, art, business, stuff, and occasionally Real Estate.

Well, I am the boss, my dating years are behind me, but I do love my cats.
