google wave: Find people to add to your Google Wave contact list - 12/14/09 06:41 AM
In order to add someone as a contact in Google Wave, you must first know their wave address. There are two ways to find out someone's wave address: 1. Ask them :-) 2. Find them in a public wave, and click on their icon. Try this: Search for public waves containing the keyword "activerain". Up in the search box type with:public activerain then click the search icon. Click on the Wave titled ActiveRain Real Estate Network, to open the contents of the wave in the right panel. Now look up at the icons of the wave participants at the top of

google wave: Google Wave - Which Blip Have I Read? - 11/10/09 09:15 AM
As more and more people join a public wave on Google Wave, adding their comments at different spots within the wave, it might become difficult to determine which comments or "blips" you have already read, and which you haven't. Here's how. Unread blips have a bold, vertical left border, like this: After you click on the blip or tap your space bar, the vertical border will disappear, like this: And yes, Wave was built so that tapping the spacebar really is the easiiest way to surf through all the blips in a wave.

google wave: How To Tag Waves In Google Wave - 11/08/09 06:25 AM
I've been waving now for almost a month. And just now, today, this morning, I learned how to TAG WAVES. Open the wave you want to tag. Keep in mind that wave so created as a collaboration tool; so you don't need to be the person who created the wave, in order to add tags to the wave. Look down at the bottom of the screen in the footer area. In the footer area of the wave column, you'll see a button labelled "Tag". Click the Tag button. A small dialog box will open. Type in your tag keywords

If you received a Google wave invitation, and just created your account, here's the first thing to do: Add some contacts! Look down at the lower portion of the left panel, and you'll see the Contact Box. Click on the + sign, to the right of "Manage Contacts" to add a new contact. You will need to ask your friends and family for their googlewave addresses, the same way you have to ask people for their email addresses when you first get acquainted. Type in the person's googlewave address, and click Submit. Now the person shows up in your

google wave: Google Wave: How to create a new wave and make it public - 10/23/09 08:16 AM
Google Wave: How to create a new wave and make it public. Creating a new wave and making it public is easy, but not exactly intuitive at least for the first few days. To start a new wave, click "New Wave". A message box will appear in the right Panel. Type the name for your new wave in the message box. (You can also type in some content, but so far, for no particular reason, I have been leaving the title as its own message box). Click Done. In order to make the wave public, you will need

google wave: Google Wave Collaboration - 10/20/09 06:44 AM
Here's a link to an post on Integral Web Solutions {{ http://www.stumbleupon.com/s/#8mPuGH/www.integralwebsolutions.co.za/Blog/EntryId/421/Google-Wave-collaboration-on-steroids.aspx/ }} that does a good job of explaining what can be done with Wave. Then, on the other hand, if you'd prefer a video demonstration, there is this: (Warning: Keep in mind this Pulp Fiction satirical video features "adult language" and is not exactly "safe for work" (SFW) )

google wave: Google Wave Update October 19 - 10/19/09 08:27 AM
I received a Google Wave Invitation on October 9, 2009. Just 10 days ago. I'm really liking Google Wave. But in order to put Wave to use in my business, I need invitations that I can share with my associates, office staff, and closest confidants. So, I check Wave each morning for an invitation wave.. but so far I am still unable to invite others. Google says they are scrambling to increase capacity. So, I continue to eagerly monitor news of Google Wave developments on Twitter. In order to facilitate the "monitoring", I built a simple little web site, which is nothing more than

google wave: Google Wave: How to add yourself to a public wave - 10/15/09 06:07 AM
Google Wave: If you find a public wave about a topic of interest, and you want to continue to monitor new comments on that wave, you'll want to add yourself to that public wave, so in continues to display in your wave inbox. This method works for me: First search for public waves like this http://activerain.com/blogsview/1285678/google-wave-find-public-waves (The first few days, there was a managable number of public waves, now they are popping out on the list several per second) Click on an interesting wave, and all the contents of the wave will display in the right panel. Now look up at the

google wave: Google Wave: Find Public Waves - 10/14/09 08:27 PM
Did you receive a Google Wave invite, set up an account, but now you feel small, alone, and unwaved-at? Find some public waves! In the search box, at the top of the center panel, just type (or copy and paste) with:public Then click the search icon. In fact, with:public will probably return way TOO many waves. So just narrow it down with a keyword. Some examples: with:public lakers with:public dodgers with:public trojans with:public bruins with:public real estate with:public los angeles with:public GLBT

google wave: How to insert a photo in Google Wave. - 10/12/09 06:24 AM
How to insert a photo in Google Wave. 1. DO NOT USE INTERNET EXPLORER. There appears to be a bug that causes images loaded while using Internet Explorer to continually display a "working twirl"; never a finished image. Google engineers will probably figure it out and fix it soon. Meanwhile use FireFox or Google Chrome or Flock or Safari. 2. Start a new Wave, or reply to an existing Wave. 3. Click the paper clip/attach icon. 4. Select the image from your computer, click Open. 5. A thumbnail of the image will appear. Clicking

google wave: How to embed a video in Google Wave. - 10/11/09 06:12 AM
Embedding a video in Google Wave took me a little while to figure out, despite rather clear instructions in the help forum, because evidently at the moment it only works with YouTube videos, (and the first video I was experimenting with was not a YouTube video). OK. 1. Choose a video from YouTube, and copy the video's URL (NOT the embed code). 2. In an open Google Wave, either click the Reply icon, or click on the bottom border or a particular comment in the thread. A text box opens for your comment.... 3. You can type some

google wave: Who else has received their Google Wave invitation? - 10/09/09 07:44 PM
I received mine, I know Missy Caulk and Kevin and Monica Ray received theirs. Anyone Else? My Wave account does not yet have the function to invite others. Google says this is the reason: As soon as we're confident that the system can accept more users, we will add a wave to your account that allows you to nominate friends and colleagues for an account. Once you have the capability to invite people, the wave appear in your inbox. Meanwhile, if you did get your Wave account, we can practice waving at each other. I discovered you must add the individual to your

google wave: Google Wave Update: Still Waiting - 10/08/09 09:17 AM
Yeah. I'm still waiting for my Google Wave Invitation. Lars Rasmussen's tweets on Twitter (http://twitter.com/larsras ) hint at engineers scrambling to repair systems failures. Stephanie (http://twitter.com/twephanie) says "if a friend invited you to Wave, it will at least days if not longer till you get your invite. invites are not sent immediately."

google wave: Still Waiting for Google Wave. But Hey, Twitter People, look at this - 10/03/09 05:31 AM
The person who invited me, sent the "nomination" on October 1. Here it is October 3. Still no invite. So I keep cruising around the web, looking for news of other people who have already received their invites. In the process, I came across this blog post about using Google Wave to post Tweets to Twitter: http://www.shoutmeloud.com/how-to-add-twitter-to-google-wave-twitterwave.html Patience is getting harder every day.

google wave: Google Wave Update: Still Waiting - 10/02/09 07:30 AM
No invitation yet. But now I understand a little better how the system works. Folks with invitations to share can not send you an invitation directly (Unlike the launch of GMail in 2004). They nominate you to Google, and then Google sends you the actual invitation. And Google sends you the invitation when they get around to "licking the stamps". This screen shot via Aaron Neale here Patience is a virtue.

google wave: The volatile Google Wave Market - 10/01/09 05:49 AM
Invitations to Google Wave were emailed to 100,000 people yesterday, September 30. By midmorning the first listing for a Google Wave invitation had appeared on eBay. Bidding for the invite topped out at around $300.00. This morning - Day 2 - there are 38 Wave sellers on eBay, and while some are listed with very low opening bids, the Buy It Now price, and/or hidden seller's reserve seems to be around $90.00 I'll probably buy one today, even though the price will probably drop further tomorrow. This is interesting as a marketing study: Google built interest with videos and announcements throughout
