mortgage rates: Imagine if your credit card company did this to you. - 11/08/09 12:54 PM
This is a reminder as to how the credit card companies extract interest rates so high it would embarrass a Mafia loan shark.
Since I am the “finance guy”, close friends asked me to look at their credit card statement. My friends had reason to be extremely upset.
My friends typically pay their bills on time, however the payment was mailed and ended up being two days late. the card company (Bank) charged $7.40 in interest for a two-day late payment of a huge amount of interest on an amount due on the statement of less than one hundred dollars. My … (5 comments)

mortgage rates: Qualify for the home that you want - 03/30/08 11:08 AM
Cant' Qualify for the home that you want?
Having problems qualifying due to increased prices? Don't dispair, help is here!
Many would-be buyers are being priced out of the market. For Canadian homebuyers stuck on the income obstacle, the latest mortgage news on the street will come as a delightful shock. The newest mortgage does the unthinkable: it doesn’t require you to show your income records. In fact, there is no income declaration, and no Notice of Assessment. It doesn’t even include your income as a factor in qualifying you for your mortgage.
So how does it work? Simply put, if … (0 comments)

mortgage rates: Are You Dropping The Ball? - 11/04/07 02:19 PM
Getting the Word Out--
Do you "get the word" out regularly using multiple advertising and promotional vehicles?
Or Are You Dropping the Ball? We're talking about advertising and promotions as a key part of your Marketing. Let's make an assumption that you have good product(s)/service(s) (with reasonable price points) and good (differentiating, creative, truthful) message as well. Let's also assume that you've got a Sales group that can close deals. Great, those are all big prerequisites; otherwise don't waste your time and money implementing advertising and promotional initiatives. But if you do, you need to step up--and not drop the ball.

mortgage rates: Fast-tracking to “mortgage-free” - 05/15/07 03:03 PM
Just imagine – as you’re going through your favourite coffee drive-thru this week – that a well-dressed gentleman stops and offers you $11,000 for your medium double double. Who would hesitate? We’d take the cash. It’s not so far-fetched. But with good planning – and a few smart tactics – you … (0 comments)

mortgage rates: "What are rates going to do in the future?" - 05/08/07 03:23 PM
"What are rates going to do in the future?"
The following is a very straightforward description of fixed term interest rates in Canada.
"The bulk of the movements in 5-year fixed mortgage rates can be explained by changes in 5-year government bond yields. Although bonds shift every day, significant and sustained trends in bond yields will often prompt a subsequent fluctuation in mortgage rates. This strong correlation reflects the options available to the financial institution offering the mortgage.
For example, the institution can either lend the funds to an individual in the form of a 5-year mortgage or lend the same funds to the … (1 comments)
