Chatham, located on Cape Cod, has a population of 6,625, as of the 2000 Census. In the summer, the population triples to approximately 20,000, not counting tourists housed by the numerous hotels, inns, motels and bed & breakfasts. While the tourist industry is very strong in Chatham, fishing is the town's main industry.Chatham boasts a quaint, walkable Main Street which is home to numerous family-owned and -operated shops, restaurants and businesses.
