md mortgage rate: You would not consult a stripper if you had the flu, do not consult a realtor about your mortgage - 12/03/09 09:57 AM
So you want to buy a house, what is the first thing you do (after trolling for hours on MLS listings sites )? You contact a realtor. The realtor is very happy to take your call and advises you to get pre-approved. Conveniently they just happen to have someone that comes "highly recommended and specializes in (fill in the blank, whatever you need is there specialty)" . You will call this person (which you should do) and they will pre-approve you for your loan, and send you off to buy a home! We all love one stop shopping and you have … (4 comments)

md mortgage rate: What have we learned this summer about interest rates? LOCK IN NOW! - 08/17/09 11:01 AM
From early March until May 27th we were enjoying record low interest rates. When I say low, I mean REALLY low. I was writing loans as low as 4.375% 30 yr fixed with ZERO points. Despite all of this, I had clients that refused to lock as they waited for 4% or even lower. Those clients got burned and will likely not make the same mistake again. Take a look at the chart below and you can see just how drastically the market can move in a day

The market has stabilized, while still volitale we … (2 comments)

md mortgage rate: Do I lock in my interest rate or Float? - 04/28/09 09:43 AM
This is the million dollar question right now. The number 1 reason that people who can refinance, are waiting is the expectation or even fear that rates will plummet and they will be stuck with a 4.875% rate. My opinion on this has changed recently. Back in the good 'ol days (2003-2006) I would always recommend locking. Rates were always in danger of shooting up and fast! In August of 2003 we were enjoying the lowest rates we had ever seen, I was offering 5% 30 yr fixed mortgages with NO POINTS and on some days with NO COST. Then one … (0 comments)

md mortgage rate: I pay my mortgage, what about me? - 03/18/09 09:55 AM
The most frequent question I hear is: "I actually pay my mortgage on time, what about me?" "What is the government doing to help me?". That is a great question.  One positive conclusion I have come to is this: The bulk of Americans are doing everything they can to get by. They are working harder, cutting back and doing what needs to be done in these times. The worrisome question is: how long can this continue? There is only so much the average person can do. So, what about them?
The good news is, our elected officials are trying. The bad news is; … (3 comments)
