This presentation will be the 1920's silent classic (recently digitally remastered) accompanied by Rufatti organ.
The screening will be at the Davies Symphony Hall in San Francisco on Sunday, October 31, at 8pm. If you are not of trick-or-treating age, this may be worth checking out.
Founded in 1911, the SFS is widely considered to be among the country’s most artistically adventurous and financially stable arts institutions. It's a beautiful venue.

A Ghost Story I Heard Often While Growing Up - a haunted restaurant in Clayton, CA - 10/26/10 04:27 PM
A Ghost Story I Heard Often While Growing Up - a haunted restaurant in Clayton, CA
As Halloween is approaching, I started to think about a haunted restaurant in the town next to mine, La Croquett. I remember hearing this ghost story as I was growing up here in the area.  I believe La Croquett is now Moresi's, but the story remains.
Apparently the building was standing in 1857, one of the first buildings when the town of Clayton was founded. Across the street is a saloon (still there, I believe, but certainly with a different name). According to the story, … (4 comments)

The Top 10 Haunted Places in California - 3 of them are in San Francisco! - 10/26/10 03:53 PM
Since Halloween is nearing, I thought it would be interested to do an internet search for haunted places in California.  There is one in Clayton, California, and I am still looking for a good story on that. Three of Shannon McCabe's most haunted places in California are in San Francisco!
I found:

Daylight Savings Time - 10/25/10 05:54 PM
We just had a bit of confusion in the office because the clock on the wall was pointing to 1:30pm, and the computers and iPhones were telling us it was 2:30pm.  We wondered if we had forgotten to "Fall Back", since both of us here are easily confused on occasion.  I figured this was a good time to check out when it is time to fall back.  The correct time is 2am on the first Sunday in November!  So the clock on the wall must have been affected by yesterday's power outtages.  Strange feeling, the day has gone by so quickly.

WI Animal Lovers, Please Help!!! - 10/25/10 04:58 PM
Hello Wisconsin friends.  I wanted to share this story that Kristin posted regarding animals in need in your area.  If you can help by fostering or adopting, please do.  Spread the word as you can, hopefully these animals will receive the help that they need.  It's very sad for the homeowner who has been letting this rescue use her property.  What a hard time this is for so many.
Thank you,
Chris

Concord, Ca, don't forget we have a year-round Farmer's Market at Todos Santos Plaza! - 10/25/10 04:39 PM
Concord, Ca, don't forget we have a  year-round Farmer's Market at Todos Santos Plaza!
A lot of our local seasonal farmer's markets are going to be closing soon.  We are lucky in Concord to have a year-round farmer's market at Todos Santos Plaza every Tuesday between 10am and 2pm.  It's a great place to shop for your fruits and veggies, as well as bread and treats (there is a booth selling fudge, as well as several other booths with goodies). There are food vendors if you want to have your lunch in the park.  It's a lot of fun, and it's … (0 comments)

Highlighting 3 pets available for adoption in Collier County, Florida - 10/19/10 06:22 PM
My friend Elaine Fischer came across a shelter in her area that she didn't know existed.  It occurred to her that if she didn't know about it, many others didn't either.  She and I have been working on bringing people's attention to this shelter and the many animals in need of happy, forever homes. I always adopt my pets from a shelter or rescue organization.  There are so many in need, I can't even think of going to a breeder. You can even find breed specific rescues if you want a certain breed.  Please think about adopting your next pet from … (13 comments)

Can you help this cat in Florida? She was rescued by Apollo the Pit Bull - 10/10/10 07:07 PM
My friend, Elaine Fischer, was walking her dogs this morning.  Apollo kept sniffing around instead of "doing his business."  Pretty soon Elaine heard a cat meow.  She looked in the bushes where Apollo was sniffing and found this pretty cat.

She is friendly, but obviously under weight.  She is relaxing on Elaine's enclosed patio.  If you can donate any supplies to take care of this cat, she most likely has fleas, possibly ear mites, not sure what else.  She will be going to the vet for a check up.  Any and all help is welcome! Elaine would love to find … (12 comments)

Adoptable Pets in Collier County, Florida - 10/06/10 07:24 PM
My friend Elaine Fischer is a bus driver in Florida (she is also a home stager).  She was sent to Collier County, where the buses are located next to an animal shelter that she had not previously even known existed.  She decided she wanted to try to help those pets find homes, since many others probably didn't know about the shelter either.  We started a new wordpress site, www.LastChancePets.org so we could highlight some of these pets.  I thought I'd share a few with you today.  (We also add pets from other locations, if you would like us to post one … (11 comments)
