In a visit yesterday to Bonita Springs, Florida Governor Charlie Crist announced his plan for property tax reform. Doubling the homestead exemption from $25,000 to $50,000 and making the homestead exemption portable for people in the Save Our Homes Program are included in his proposal. What Is "Save Our Homes"? "Save Our Homes" (SOH) spearheaded by Mr. Wilkinson, approved by Florida voters in 1992, effective January 1, 1995. SOH places a limitation of 3% on annual assessment increases on homestead exempt property.
