ontario: R&P Farms Deli, Alliston, Ontario - 08/02/11 10:39 AM
I had heard of this fairly new Alliston eatery for a while. The people in my office raved about the Bagels, Sandwiches and Butter Tarts. I told my wife and mother-in-law about the R&P Farms store across the road from my office and have had their bagels, still warm out of the oven for breakfast on a Sunday morning. I finally wandered over one day a little while ago when I only had a few minutes to have something to eat. Frank and Ro, the proprietors, suggested I try their BBQ'd Smoked Back Bacon on a Bun (that they

ontario: Husky Gas Bar, Drive-Thru and Corner Store in Alliston, Ontario - 03/09/11 02:06 PM
Located Located on the north side of Victoria Street, just west of Tottenham Rd. in the East end of Alliston, this local business aims to please. The Gas Station provides good quality regular and premium gasoline (with ethanol) and low-sulphur diesel. There is a drive-thru that supplies coffee, tea, hot chocolate and a variety of quality donuts. The variety store has sundry assorted food goods, automotive supplies and lottery tickets. I have been buying diesel there since Suki and Suvi opened their Husky Gas Station, Coffee Shop and Variety Store in August of 2010 and have

ontario: History of Orangeville, Ontario - 10/29/10 12:47 PM
The history of Orangeville - as it can be traced from newspapers, assessment records, photographs, and census, church, and cemetery records - is one of early settlement that began in the 1830s, of steady growth to incorporation in 1863, and of economic expansion through the 1870s and 1880s. All this development culminated in the Town's being named the county seat for the newly incorporated County of Dufferin in 1881. Today much of this early history can still be seen along Broadway. Buildings such as the Town Hall, Fire Hall, Jackson Block, Sun Office, Ketchum Block, Fead Block, Greystones, and Public Library,

ontario: Remembrance Day in New Tecumseth - 11/04/09 07:34 AM
November 11th, Remembrance Day, easy to miss the significance of this day in our busy lives. This day, unlike so many others is not another contrivance of modern marketing, but a day set aside for us to pay tribute to the sacrifices so many made before us so that we can enjoy the freedom we take for granted. We buy our poppies and we honour our veterans on this day, even have a "moment of silence" ... but somehow it doesn't seem to be enough. I was playing darts at the Port Credit Legion Hall years ago, and in between games I happened to sit at
