The weather is warming up, the grass is getting green again, and flowers are sprouting. Do you know what that means? Spring is here! Here's some tips on "Springing" up your home.

Open your windows: The weather is nice enough and the spring breezes will refresh your home from the musty winter smell.
Have a Garage Sale: Again, the weather is beautiful, and it's a great opportunity to sift through some of the stuff you've been meaning to clean up.
Simple Decorations: Stores like Michael's and even Wal-Mart and Target have some really great spring time decorations, whether it's faux flowers or a sign to set in your front yard.
Spring Cleaning: Now is the time to get down and dirty because we hibernated in the winter :) Get outside and clean up the garden. Or if you don't have a garden, now is a great time to start one. If you don't want to work outside, inside projects are always good, such as some hard-core dusting or even those improvements that you've been waiting to do.

Now, of course there's a ton of things to do to "Spring" up your home, these are just a few to get you started. And, who knows, you might be inspired to do more.

What better way to learn the history of St. Augustine than to take the Old Town Trolley Tours of St. Augustine? The trains run from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily. Tickets for adults are $18, $5 for children ages 6-12, and free for children under 6 years old. ** St. Johns County residents are offered discounts with an ID**
When children are acting up, wouldn't it be nice to send them to jail? Well, the opportunity is available at the Authentic Old Jail. Not only is the jail authentic (built in 1891) it is also a museum with rich history and plenty of artifacts. The Old Jail is open daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Adult tickets are $6, $4 for children 6-12, and free for children under 6.
A great place to see the wonders of the 19th century and step into the past is to visit the Lightner Museum. Open daily form 9 AM to 5 PM with adult tickets at $8, $2 for children 12-18, and free for children under 12 when accompanied by an adult. **St. Johns Country residents admitted for free with ID**
A great way to get your paranormal bone working is to take A Ghostly Experience Walking Tour. The tour takes you to places where ghosts might dwell in their afterlife. An hour and a half long and kid-friendly, tickets are $10 per person, and kids 6 and under tour for free.
Do you like life-like things? Then the Potter's Wax Museum is for you! With famous figure-heads like President George W. Bush and Michael Jordan, this is a fantastic place to visit. Sunday-Thursday: 9 AM to 5 PM, Friday to Saturday 9 AM to 9 PM. Feel like you might need to grow young again? Why not take a trip to Pone de Leon's Fountain of Youth! You'll get to travel beautiful gardens and even get a sample of the water from the fountain! A great place to see some history and exotic animals from reptiles to mammals is the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park. Open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM (6 PM in the summer). The place for interactive learning and fun is the Ripley's Believe It or Not! Museum. A unique museum with 3 floors of fun. Get your weird on! A great way to get a feel for St. Augustine is to walk down St. George Street. A fantastic place full of colorful shops down a beautiful cobblestone alley. With something for everyone and never boring, this is the place to go.

Jacksonville Florida Market Update

A ton is happening in the real estate market across the nation and here in our own backyard. The interest rates to banks is going down and consumer loan rates are flucuating wildly. I don't feel that we will be seeing the historic low rates of the past in that the banks are trying to recoop from the blows suffered from the free lending days that put us into the situation we are now dealing with.

The days of enticing realtors to bring a buyer to a home for sale is gone. It is the time that the price of the property and incentives to buyers will get the sale to happen. Let's face it, internet is king and if you market a home to the buyer the buyer will bring the realtor.

Realtors are the cornerstone of the business and should be used for any and all transactions. You would have an attorney represent you in court and you should have a realtor representing you in any real estate transaction. There is a world of deadlines and requirements and the clock starts ticking as soon as you have entered into a contract.

What a realtor brings is not only the experience and extensive education in the real estate market, but the connections to keep the transaction moving and avoiding any situations that might arise before they become an issue. They can get your home a greater advertising presence through proven advertising and assist in the most efficient use of concessions in your specific market to get your home sold as quickly as possible. A realtor that is representing a buyer will assist in ensuring that the home is as it appears, help you determine what the fair market value may be and assist you in finding a mortgage consultant that will work hard in helping you get into the new home of your dreams.

Here in Jacksonville I believe that home owners have realized the importance of setting the right price as there are many homes on the market. We have seen increased activity in homes under $200,000 and there are many to chose from. Even though there are many short sales that have their own special requirements, there are still many homes that homeowners are selling that are competatively priced against the short sales.

Good Morning,

My name is Christina Starner and I am a spouse of an Active Duty military member. We have been in Jacksonville, Florida since 2005.

My husband returned from an 8 month deployment August 2007. I speak Military... especially when he is gone: Single Parent of Four children. :)

I joined Watson Realty last year and was formally with Keller Williams. I have been blessed enough last year (and to date) to keep busy as a Realtor.

I am excited about joining the group for many reasons- my Sellers are generally military and moving out of state. I would be very happy to pass along referrals and keep it in the 'military family'.
