For nature lovers in Jacksonville, The Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve, provides an excellent fishing spot, over 40 miles of nature trails for biking and hiking, and a boat launch in the Guana River. The GTM Reserve consists of almost 55,000 acres of salt marsh and mangrove wetlands. The park is located on Highway A1A just south of Ponte Vedra Beach.

Although most hurricanes steer clear of the Jacksonville area, all Floridians should take precautions during the regular hurricane season which lasts from June 1st to November 30th.
This year, the Tropical Meteorology Project at Colorado State University has ongoing Tropical Storm Forecasts. Their 2009 forecast predicted "slightly below-average activity for the 2009 Atlantic hurricane season" and 2009 turned out to be a very quiet season. The forecast for 2010 is not quite as calm:
