We all know that in 1972 American politics and history were changed in the rooms at the Watergate Hotel in Washington DC.  Over the years the hotel, once considered the in spot in to stay in DC, has losts it's luster.
On July 21st the bidding at the auction to see who might become the next owner of the hotel starts at $1M.  You can read the rest of the story and how a new owner is going to have to come up with some serious cash not only to buy the building but to renovate it as well in the … (12 comments)

washington dc: Planning Ahead for A Visit to Washington DC Area Attractions - 05/15/09 02:01 PM
As schools across the nation are getting ready for summer break families are planning their vacations.  One of the "hot" places to go in the summer has always been Washington DC and the surrounding area. The number of attractions are amazing and best of all many of them are free.  Everyone knows about the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial but there are plenty of others to enjoy as well.  While your here you might want to put these on your to do list as well.

washington dc: The Second Hottest Inauguration Ticket in Washington DC - 01/18/09 06:55 PM
Tomorrow my good friend Pat and I are headed into DC.  Despite all of the road closings and insanity happening around Tuesday's Inauguration we are holding the second hottest tickets in town.

Trying to pick the top five things to do in the DC area is like a Smothers Brothers comedy routine.  Mom always liked you best; no she always liked you best, how are you supposed to choose?  But choose I must.  As a native of the area I've had the good fortune to run up the stairs of the Washington Monument as a child with my out of town cousins and dip my feet in the Reflecting Pool on a hot summer day.  Since the stairs of the monument are now off limits and the Park Police frown on cooling your feet you will have to settle … (31 comments)

washington dc: Anticipation-Two Events Worth the Wait - 03/12/08 09:56 AM
Trust me waiting for these events is better than waiting for the ketchup on your nice hot French fries!
It is the time of year where both the natives to the Washington DC area and the tourist start to anticipate the blooming of the Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin.  This year the timing of the Cherry Blossom Festival coincides with another great local event the Smithsonian Kite Festival.  Two great events at one time.
The Cherry Blossom Festival itself runs from Marc 29th to April 13th and the peak time for the blossoms is forecast to be from March 27th to April … (7 comments)
