With two alumni of West Springfield HS in my household we are excited to be watching this seasons America's Got Talent competion and see the West Springfield High School Dance Team in the Top 10.Check out the routine that got them into the Top 10 and stay tuned to see how far they go. No matter what the outcome these team has talent! This is not your ordinary dance team with pretty tutu's and toe shoes. The Sydenstricker School in Springfield VA was the last one room school house in operation in Fairfax County. It closed in 1939 but the building is still used today as a community meeting hall. The belfry contains the original school bell purchased in 1920's from the Sears Roebuck store in Alexandria.The school was named after the first minister of the original Sydenstricker Church next door built in 1909. Rev. Syndenstricker was also the uncle of Nobel Prize Winner Pearl Buck the author of The Good Earth.

My first reaction to the question was one of surprise. The photos in my listings are always my own photos and are taken at the time the listing is posted. When I answered "yes" the response was one of relief.Turns out, as many of us have discovered, not all agents are posting current photos of their listings. Certainly if the listing was formerly pristine and is now in disrepair trying to lure buyers in with "false" photos is going to backfire.

For anyone looking to buy a home in Springfield Virginia you will hear the term "school pyramid" used to describe the schools that feed into the four local high schools.West Springfield, Robert E. Anyone who drives past Washington Irving Middle School in West Springfield (VA) can't help but notice the large painted boulder at the entrance to the school. The history of the "rock" and the tradition that surrounds it go back September 1960 when Washington Irving opened its doors.
At that time Old Keene Mill Road that runs in front of the school was a winding two lane road. When road crews were finishing the entrance to the school they uncovered the large boulder and stood it on its end by the driveway.
