2 more days........ - 12/31/10 08:23 AM
I am itching to get back to work!  Yes, I am enjoying the time off and the hoildays.  I am truly enjoying being in Nashville Tennessee at the moment.  (didn't paticularly enjoy the outcome of last night Music City Bowl) But I am ready to be 100% pushing forward in my business.  I look forward to my Monday morning calls to my sellers.  I can't wait to check up on my vacant properties and meet the plumber at 9am.  I'm really looking forward to a team meeting on Tuesday, and handing Cara her year end bonus.  Welcome 2011, bring it on, … (5 comments)

It's winter and saving money is always on our mind, along with staying warm!  Here are some simple steps to help you save a little energy and money around the house.
1. Caulk and weather strip around windows and doors to stop air leaks. ( I did this today- so easy!)
2. Seal gaps in floors and walls, as well as around pipes and electrical wiring.
3. Inspect ductwork and repair leaks.
4. Keep your outside air unit clear of debris or weeds.
5.  Change your air filters monthly! (Did that today too!)

The Travelers Gift - 12/26/10 09:57 AM
The Travelers Gift:Seven Decisions That Determine Personal Success, by Andy Andrews is easily one of my favorite books of all time.  It is a novel that also doubles as a motivational book with life lessons for everyone. It also has a version for young readers.  The Young Travelers Gift.  This is a book I have gifted over 20 times in my life.  It is such a perfect story that is easy to read.  You do not even realize you are learning wonderful life lessons as you are going through the story or that you are learning history as well.

Well Mollie was a special little girl this year, she shopped at Mahoneys
in Johnson City.  A very nice sporting goods shop with an array of products from  "Life is Good" to "Northface" to Hunting gear.  Wonderful people working there with experience to help you with all your adventure needs. I think Mollie gets to sleep with Mom tonight, she was that good!
Now Max was feeling a tad more glamorous.  He went to The Mall in Johnson City. There he was able to pick up scarves, shoes and a couple sweaters for his favorite girl Rachel. He was recipricated with … (7 comments)

This is too funny..does it hurt to get hit with an airsoft gun? Are you crazy? - 12/21/10 09:15 PM
I have a humor theme going today.  Tuesday humor?  I don't know, but I was looking through videos in Bristol Tennessee and Virginia, focusing on fun and different  things to do.  I love the creative side of Bristol, it is such an "artsy" town.  They have a flare for music, art, just anything that gets your creative juices flowing.  Bristol is a very eclectic city, I enjoy spending time here.   I came a cross this video that just got me laughing.  I kept thinking, "stop, it hurts!"  It asks the question, "does it hurt to get hit with an airsoft gun?"  Well, … (4 comments)

Why is this a good time to put your house on the market? - 12/18/10 05:12 PM
I am asked this question all the time.  Actually the question I am asked is, should I wait until spring to put my house on the market.  People don't look at houses in the winter, do they?  I totally disagree.  You don't know when the right person for your home is going to be in the market.  It could be today, next week or in the Spring!  We just don't know.  Here are a couple good reasons to market your house now.
1. It's decorated for the holidays!
2. It smells good..

When life gives you snowflakes.......... - 12/13/10 05:54 PM
The snow came down last night, and kept coming through the day.  Schools are closed, banks are closed, what to do?  Well after squeezing a full work day into a half day, we bundled up and headed to Warriors Path Golf Courseto hit the sleding hills!  I was once again reminded of the power of proper layering.  Even though the temperature outdoors was 24/feeling like 7 (that's what the weather channel was saying) we were to the point of sweating.  The ride down, a blast, fun, exhilarating.  The walk back up...OMG.....
I love living in such a beautiful area with … (8 comments)

Condo Living, or not - 12/08/10 09:57 PM
Condominiums can be such a wonderful lifestyle for many.   The amenities vary from site to site and Home Owner Association (HOA) fees usually have a lot to do with what you are getting for your money.  Are you ready for a condo? There are many questions you have to ask yourself.
Do I want a garden?  Can I have one in this development?
Can I afford an HOA every month?  What if it goes up?
Do I have animals?  A large dog?  Where will he run?
On the positive side:
I don't have to mow!  I don't have to shovel snow!

Got Orangeburg? - 12/08/10 09:26 PM
I recently came across a friend of mine who had a major issue with her sewer pipes.  She lives up in Michigan and was explaining to me about this Orangeburg issue she was having.  I had never heard of it before and initially thought it may be a regional thing.  Well after more research I realize that this "Orangeburg" is a real thing and a real issue nationwide.
This picture is of an Orangeburg pipe, also known as, bituminized fiber pipe.  It is made from layers of wood pulp and pitch pressed together.  Basicly, tar coated compressed cardboard!  The name comes … (3 comments)

The Christmas Tree - 12/08/10 11:00 AM
Oh Christmas Tree, oh Christmas tree.....What a wonderful time of year it is.  The traditions we have are so special.  Decorating a Christmas tree is much more then pulling ornaments out of a box.  The first thing we do is gather the family to find the perfect tree.  That in itself is a special time.  I have taken pictures of each and every trip we've made to the tree farm.
Step two is the lights.  How fun, or not, can that be.  Ha ha... so many stories about tangled lights, burnt out bulbs family feuds over them.
My favorite part is … (3 comments)

Schools are closed!!! - 12/06/10 01:16 PM
Well Johnson County , Washington County and Carter County Tennessee closed there schools due to snow.  They are located in the Mountains and surrounded by lakes and creeks.  Roads were icy and it's understandable that schools were closed!  Now Johnson City schools were on a 2 hour delay, along with Sullivan County schools.  I have a hard time figuring out why this school system, which is located in Washington County and Sullivan County schools don't follow the same snow schedule.  We are all in the same area. Now, this is really going to crack you up.  The pictures that show you … (2 comments)
