Watauga Lake - 07/28/11 07:28 AM
I took this picture driving over the Butler Bridge at Watauga Lake. It is one of the prettiest views of the lake in my opinion. You can look both directions over the bridge and get two totally different views, both gorgeous. The water is blue and crystal clear. 85% of the shoreline is Cherokee National Forest and the other 15% is residential. Part of the Appalacian trail travels through the Watagua lake area as well. I especially love the white cloud peaking over the far away mountain!

The trails are rated from easy to moderate to hard. ( a lot like skiing). The Bone Yard was a hard trail, lots of roots, stumps, hills and steep turns. All the trails connect to one another. It's a bird, it's a plane...yes , it's a plane! - 07/23/11 06:31 PM
Sitting on my back porch this morning, sipping on my morning coffee, a sound caught my attention through the trees. I had to get up and walk to the edge of the garden to spot the flying object in the sky. It's such a cool plane, it was out there flying around all morning. I'm sure whoever was flying it was just having a blast. So, here's to a terrific Saturday to all of you. Chase your dreams and if life brings you a crop duster, FLY-IT!!

Wing Deer Park Trails - 07/19/11 06:59 PM
Wing Deer park in Johnson City Tennessee is a great place for a picnic, a walk or a nice afternoon jog perhaps. I personally go for the 4 mile walk through the wooded trails. The shade keeps the temperature down a little and the asphault trails are good for the legs! There are also trails that have been cut into the woods to follow as well. It's a great place to enjoy an afternoon. Wing Deer Park is located on the Bristol Highway between Bristol Tennessee and Johnson City Tennessee.

The trail of tears..MY TEARS! - 07/19/11 07:54 AM
My 3 day 60 mile walk, for Susan G Komen, is in a week and a half and I have had to bump up the training to 10 and 12 mile training walks. I am incorporating community trails that are for walkers .runners and bikers. The trail I've been walking the past few days is called the Erwin Linear Trail. It is 4 1/4 miles one way through streams, bogs, shade, and even the Unicoi County Dog Shelter. It is paved with asphault in places, but mostly packed down earth. A rest area stop 2 miles in and a very safe and

Word of the day: Spare - 07/08/11 09:56 AM
Spare- I never quite paid proper enough attention to this invaluble word! Thanks Lisa for a word of the day that really gets spared. (another one of those words that just LOOKS wrong)! Via Lisa Von Domek - Broker/Associate (Lisa Von Domek & Associates / Real Living Real Estate Group): Spare (v) spared, sparing 1. To refrain from destroying or harming: Treat mercifully 2. To exempt from doing or experiencing something 3. To use with thrift or restraint 4. To do without: dispense with (adj) sparer, sparest 1a. Kept in reserve (a spare bedroom) 1b. Pay it forward: Rescued Jake - 07/08/11 08:29 AM
Okay, I'm not sure if this qualifies...but it should. I'm not sure this was the best use of my funds...but it doesn't matter, because I did it and I feel great about it. Jake was at the Sullivan County Animal Shelter, and he was next to go. (not to a loving home) He was spending his last days on earth in a crate. He was so adorable and pathetic at the same time. Okay, we'll take him! Fast forward, we wake up in the morning and Jake had a bad bad night, without going into details, my kitchen floor was a

Is that an ice cream truck I hear? - 07/07/11 04:49 PM
Childhood memories of Ice Cream truck in the distance. The children running inside to get money from mom to buy that oh so special ice cream delight! We hear that sound as adults and the memory flashes. That may not be your memory, but we all have them, whether it's ice cream or peanuts at the ball park. The flush of good feelings come back. That's how we need to market our homes. I ask my sellers to help me create their memory on paper. What is it that makes you smile when you think of home. Can you share that. It's amazing

We hiked Rattlesnake Ridge in Rock Creek -Cherokee National Forest, Unicoi, Tennessee today. What a hike that was. 7 miles round trip (not counting the mile into the trail) and the way up was exactly that, UP. It was really fun..and hot. Here is what we encountered about half way in...
