I enjoy the week-end football games, but also the Saturday band competitions. Science Hill High School band is a band to be reckoned with. They took first place at the Festival of Bands last week-end and they took 3rd overall this past week. This coming up week-end is going to be at Bradley Central High School in Cleveland Tennessee. Those of you who know me will expect this blog!( and will know more will be following) Science Hill High school football home opener was last night and the crowd was out. Science Hill won, 26-18 against Elizabethton High school. It was an exciting game, the first half was back and forth, looked like it was going to be anyones game. Science Hill pulled it out in the second half. Friday Nights in Johnson City Tennessee are packed with excitment this time of year. I am a huge fan of the Johnson City school system. They believe in their students, they support academics and the arts as well. They understand that children learn and grow at different rates in different ways. The elementary schools have an array of different opportunities at each school. One school focuses on the musical art of Suzuki and Piano, where another school focuses on Chorus. Physical education may be basketball or possibly ballet. There are choices for all. Get there early because this concert will be packed. The Science Hill 8th grade band, 9th grade band, 10-12 band and percussion ensemble will be preforming their Annual Christmas concert. Tuesday, December 14th at 7pm.
The Science Hill Drum Line is a very successful factor to this band. They made it to Pasic last year in Indianapolis, which is the Percussive Arts Society International Convention. Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tennessee has a fabulous band program. Science Hill band has been invited to march in the IKEA Thanksgiving Day Parade this year.
