What a great day it was on the lake yesterday. The longest day of the year and weather was iffy! However, our day on the lake ended up being perfect. Instead of our planned picnic, (it was pouring down rain for 2 hours before we hit the boat) we ended up going to The Captains Table Hampton Tennessee. and enjoying a leisurly lunch before heading out to the stormy looking sky. By the time we reached the marina, it was gorgeous, and it stayed that way for the 4 hours we spent on the lake....and then the clouds started to roll … (8 comments)

I went out to Watauga Lake this afternoon to check in with friends and family still on the boat from Labor day week-end. Hey back to work!! Not so fast, take a look at this calm lake and empty Marina. Well maybe an extra day at the lake is not such a bad idea. Watauga lake is just beautiful. Driving home is usually not an issue for me. I just take a deep breathe and take in the beauty of Northeast Tennessee. This picture is taken driving over the Butler bridge around Watauga lake. Watauga lake is especially wonderful because it is 80% Cherokee National forest. The other 20% is residential, which for a large lake like Watauga, this is quite a great break down. I took this picture driving over the Butler Bridge at Watauga Lake. It is one of the prettiest views of the lake in my opinion. You can look both directions over the bridge and get two totally different views, both gorgeous. The water is blue and crystal clear. 85% of the shoreline is Cherokee National Forest and the other 15% is residential. Part of the Appalacian trail travels through the Watagua lake area as well. A day at the lake! There is only one way to keep that Captain in line! Watauga lake, located in Northeast Tennessee has a shore line of 85% National Forest. Due to this, the traffic on the lake is really kept to a minimum and the beauty of the Lake and the area is highlighted. The lake is surrounded by Mountains and Forest and is one of the prettiest lakes here in Northeast Tennessee.
