Real Estate Recovery - Jobs are the Magic Bullet in Indianapolis - 08/20/11 03:28 PM
I think we can all agree that there are indicators that predict the future of the housing market. One of the best indicators are jobs. Jobs create confidence and that confidence leads people to purchase new homes. I'm excited to report that Indianapolis and the surrounding area is seeing jobs come to its city...and what will follow is an uptick in the housing market. In fact Money Magazine has just named Hamilton County as one of the best places for jobs! The graph shows our unemployment rate is on the way down…a reason to celebrate and with new jobs coming…a bigger drop (13 comments)
Real Estate Recovery - Geist Waterfront Homes - 08/16/11 09:49 PM
Originally posted at My IndyWaterfront Blog There are definitely signs of a real estate recovery happening in the Fishers, Carmel and Geist area. The Fishers Real Estate market was up 40% over a year ago in July and the Carmel Real Estate market was up 14%. So let’s look at the Geist Real Estate market and specifically the number of homes sold in Geist that are on Reservoir. In the period January 1 - July 31st in 2010; there were 14 homes that sold (this excludes condos) that were on the Reservoir. In 2011 for the same period there were again 14 homes (12 comments)
Pay It Forward - Sugarland and the Indiana State Fair Disaster - 08/14/11 05:27 PM
This week I am bowing out of the Pay It Forward challenge...most of you have heard or read about the tragedy that happened at the Indiana State Fair last night around 8:45 p.m. There was a violent gust of wind that appears to have been isolated to the area of the Main Stage that blew it down killing at least 5 and injuring over 40 people. The video was horrific and the 10 minutes my husband and I waited for our daughter who was there to call was a lifetime. She is fine. Why bow out this week; because (30 comments)
Real Estate Recovery - Fishers Indiana Market Report for July - 08/11/11 08:32 AM
Originally posted at My Fishers Blog I think I alluded to it last month, but July shows some great news for the number of homes sold in Fishers for July. In July 2011, 153 homes sold in Fishers compared with 107 last year. That is a 40% increase…(wish the stock market would have that kind of a day!). Both the days on the market improved from 89 to 82 and the average price increased from $248,700 to $249,600. Can I get an “Amen”? Of course, as a seasoned Fishers Real Estate agent…I must throw some caution to this. Last July was (9 comments)
Real Estate Recovery - Carmel Indiana July Market Report - 08/11/11 08:32 AM
Originally posted at My Carmel Blog Banner month for Carmel Real Estate. There were 142 homes sold in July of 2011 compared with 125 in July of 2010! Also great news with the days on market decreasing to 78 from 83 a year ago and the average sale price increasing to $334,600 compared with $332,600 a year ago. It is important to at least note that June of 2010 was an extremely heavy month of sale making July of 2010 a bit on the lighter side. It is important to see this type of increase given the last few months that (1 comments)
Why I Chose Real Estate - the Perfect Storm - 08/09/11 08:18 PM
What I learned most from my dad was how to laugh; and it has saved many a days for me. My dad died in 1983, five days before my 23rd birthday..he was 63. But his laughter still rings in my ears some 30 years or so later. He also taught me authenticity...be who you say you are and do what you say you will do. Life skills that today make me a REALTOR of choice I think. My dad was going to be a priest...that is until he met my mom... So when I got accepted to the University of Notre Dame (19 comments)
Pay It Forward - 110th Family Reunion - 08/07/11 08:55 PM
This entire week was spent going the extra mile for my mom...and her ancestors. What I didn't expect is that I would walk away wanting to go again next year. I mean why would I want to drive three hours to a difficult to find location (where they drive horse and buggies through town??) to spend three hours with people that are old and I don't know.... But it was my mom's year to host... My husband and I created a BINGO game using the original 12 children of George and Susan Artley (who started these reunions in 1902!). Rather than B-I-N-G-O (9 comments)
Homes for Sale on Geist Reservoir over $1MM - 08/05/11 07:28 PM
Originally posted at My Indy Waterfront Blog There are currently 15 homes for sale on Geist Reservoir that are over one million dollars. Five of those are in Lawrence Township, 9 are in Hamilton Southeastern area and one is in the Mt Vernon area. There are a few popular neighborhoods in Geist that typically have homes on the water for sale. They include Masthead, Springs of Cambridge, and Feather Cove. Occassionally you can also find them in the Admirals or Canal Place. Waterfront views are so beautiful not only in the summertime but in the Fall and Winter too. They create a peaceful feeling after (5 comments)

Real Estate Recovery - Hamilton County Housing Report - Good News - 08/04/11 08:02 AM

So June of 2010 was a big number and we beat it in 2011! The median sale price also from $207,500 to $215,500 or a 3.9% increase comparing June to (11 comments)
Ranch Homes in Carmel for Sale with Basements - 08/03/11 08:05 AM
Originally posted at my Carmel Blog I think if I were looking for a home for sale in Carmel, a ranch styled home with a basement would be on my short list. The comforts of single floor living appeals to me greatly these days! I would also want a basement; after all these years I would need a place to store all the “stuff” from the kids moving out and leaving things behind! I love being a REALTOR for many reasons but one of those reasons is the ability to just look at different types of housing on a whim. Today, (7 comments)
