The first Mast General store was opened in 1883 in Valle Crucis, NC. Folks used to play bottle cap checkers next to the pot-bellied stove. It has now grown to 9 locations throughout the south. Hendersonville, NC is lucky to have this fantastic store. It is like walking back in time. You see all the old mercantile items, lye soap, jellies, jams and cast iron skillets. A fixture in Downtown Hendersonville, this bakery has been a favorite for visitors and locals for decades. I have loved this bakery since I moved here in the 80's. I have raised my children here and they LOVE this bakery. My son has grown up on smiley face cookies and my daughter on chocolate eclairs.
