training: Training, Training, We Don't Need No Stinking Training - 07/25/11 07:43 PM
Depending on what State you live in it takes more than 1500 hours to become licensed to cut someones hair. Yet recently we have had resistance and difficulty getting real estate professionals to sit still for one day to learn a new skill or work on improving their current skills. You would have to attend 250 of our one day workshops to get the same level of training that your stylist does when they take a pair of clippers to your head. My personal stylist goes to hair shows and conferences to learn new ways to cut, color, and style my hair not only

training: Do You Suffer From Eeyore Syndrome? - 04/12/11 09:16 PM
Do YouSuffer From Eeyore Syndrome ? Do you know an Eeyore? Are you one yourself? He is Winnie The Pooh's sad blue donkey friend who always had his head hung low and says "oh whoa is me". If you walk and talk like Eeyore and blame all your troubles and lack of business on the on the market you will undoubtedly attract like minded people. I was on a training call today and I told the trainer that I had run into a gentleman last week in my offices parking lot who knew me and he said how sad he was for me that the market was

training: Watch Your Words: Expert, Specialist,Certified, Etc. - 01/29/11 12:23 PM
Watch Your Words: Expert, Specialist, Certified, Etc. Just returned from CAR business meetings and in the Risk Management Forum one of our Attorney's pointed out that it is wise to watch your marketing words carefully. Using terms like Expert, Specialist, Certified, etc. can not only be misleading if you do not hold those authorized designations from NAR but could also raise your standards of practice when brought into question. As you can plainly see I have a sea of alphabets behind my name from many sources including NAR, CAR, and Certified Course completions. I believe in each and every one of them.

training: TRAINING..TRAINING..WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING TRAINING.. - 08/24/10 02:22 PM
TRAINING..TRAINING..WE DON'T NEED NO STINKING TRAINING.. We had to cancell a back to basics one day real estate training boot camp in Los Angeles County in the Antelope Valley today. Why, well because either the audience of real estate agents was either not interested or felt they did not need any training to overcome what is now a disastrous market. We were offereing a $99.00 live hands on workshop (including lunch) and we were met with the following excuses for non attendance: I can not spend an entire day away from my office...I need to post something on Farmville. I already know all

training: HOW DO YOU GET TO CARNEGIE HALL? - 11/16/07 10:06 AM
HOW DO YOU GET TO CARNEGIE HALL? PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE. Real estate as a career, what a concept. The gurus of real estate are now saying that 20-30% of the agents currently in the business will not renew their license next year. WHAT A SHAME. The market is not flat it is just different. Agents can no longer be order takers that go to the office and wait for the phone to ring or for the next walk in buyer or seller. Investing in your future in real estate does not mean buying calendars or other promotional give aways it means going

training: Whining or Working - 09/16/07 11:09 AM
There is an old saying "that you can never go home again". Well yesterday I did just that. I attended a Picnic thrown by my previous Board of REALTORS in Ventura County, California where I practiced real estate for 16 years. I now live in a small town about 2 & 1/2 hours north east in Tehachapi, California. Many of my old friends and associates were there and we caught up and chatted about things that were important to us in our businesses and our lives. I had taught several classes at that association as a trainer. Many agents wanted to talk to me

training: WHO ARE YOU READING? - 08/30/07 08:35 AM
When I was new in the real estate business my mentor took me by the hand and asked me "who are you reading?" I did not have a clue what he meant. He explained to me that my success in the real estate field would be tied to what I learned and who I learned it from. So off I went to find a direction in which to steer my career. I attended seminars with Tommy Hopkins, Mike Ferry, Brian Buffini, Floyd Wickman, Howard Brittan, Daniel Kennedy and many other fabulous real estate trainers and recommend them all to you if you ever
