Yes, Mom it is almost time to register that little one for kindergarten. If your child will be five (5) years of age on or before October 16, 2008, he/she will be eligible to attend kindergarten beginning in June 2008. Registration for the 2008-2009 school year is May 12 and 13, 2008. Contact the school in your current attendance area for operating hours. A listing of all Onslow County Schools. Keep in mind state law requires parents to provide a Health Physical assessment of their child and a record of all required immunizations prior to beginning school. North Carolina is a military friendly state as declared by our General Assembly. North Carolina state schools, universities and community colleges offer in state tuition to active military, their spouses and children. If you have a college age child or plan to continue your education, this is wonderful news and a golden opportunity. We have excellent and nationally ranked colleges and universities in North Carolina. Perhaps you are familiar with some of them ......Duke University, Wake Forest University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Davidson College to mention a few. Excitement - The anticipation of meeting new people, seeing new places and the challenges/changes of a new base is exciting and thrilling. Stress - You might feel stressed and worried about the process and complications of the move. You understand the transition to a new home, school and friends for family, especially children and teenagers is never easy.
