eastern north carolina: Eastern North Carolina - Flood Insurance - 07/31/08 08:34 AM
Coastal eastern North Carolina is a beautiful and wonderful place to live but there are some requirements here that newcomers to Onslow County may not be aware of.Much of the property in and near bodies of water in Swansboro, Hubert, Jacksonville and surrounding areas are located in a flood zone whether they are on or near the ocean, sound, river or a creek. Many buyers are under the mistaken impression that only waterfront properties are required to obtain flood insurance. This is not necessarily true. It depends on the zones as determined by the National Flood Hazard Maps. Lenders require homeowners

eastern north carolina: New Year's Day Polar Plunge with Clients - 01/08/08 08:21 PM
I am so fortunate that many of my clients become friends and neighbors. A couple, whom I sold a house to about a year ago, invited my daughter and me to their New Year's Day Brunch and Polar Plunge. The invitation read "bring a salad or dessert and your swim suit". January 1st 2008 was a marvelous Eastern North Carolina day in Hubert, N C with the temperature very much above our average normal January high of 54. Even so, I knew the water would be too cold for me to go in. We arrived around noon to find lots of familiar faces,

If you have just relocated to Jacksonville, Hubert, Swansboro or any area of Onslow County, you might not be familiar with the steps you will need to take in the event a hurricane threatens our area. The Onslow County Emergency
