These are homes are most new construction and have been completed for nearly a year or over a year. These homes may have not sold for a number of different reason but usually it is not something that is wrong with the home itself.

Some different reasons for these homes staying on the market for so long include:
- The home was a model home
- The home was overpriced
- The area had too much new home inventory
- The home was not marketed well
- Something that can easily be changed within the home has given people a poor 1st impression
- Other (commercial)development in the area was delayed making the home less convenient to shopping
- Builder ran out of money or has gone bankrupt
- Builder is carrying the cost of the home and just wants to unload it
