Are You Sick in Real Estate? - 06/28/07 04:45 PM
Let me assure you that the title of this post does not include any typos. I am not curious if anyone is sick OF real estate, but rather if any of you have ever been really sick IN real estate.  Let me give you an example.
I woke up two nights ago feeling like I had been gargling Drano.  My throat was so sore that I was afraid to look in the mirror for fear of seeing my spine through the dissolved void that once was my adam's apple.  I was convinced that someone had slipped sulfuric acid into … (6 comments)

How to Commit Productivity Suicide...and Employ Hazmat - 06/22/07 11:16 AM
I sat down at my desk today and was instantly struck by an epiphany.  I couldn't find a dang thing and it was time to do something about it.  Basically, my desk looked as though a tornado had gone a few rounds with it, stepped back, had a cigarette, then gone in for seconds.  It was not a pretty sight.  I had phone numbers strewn across post it notes.  I had new lifeforms crawling out of what may have been leftovers from a meal long since past.  I had no clue where my stapler was...I was lost.  It was at that point … (2 comments)

Out of the Oven and Into the DOUGH!! ... The Natural Born Salesman - 06/18/07 01:44 PM
I am sure that several of you had to take a high-school aptitude test at some point of your scholastic lives.  I am also fairly certain that there were more than a few of you that were somewhat surprised by the outcome of that test.  I would like to say that I was one of them but unfortunately when I got my results, I was not too shocked to find out what my personality traits had destined me to become.  So without further ado, I will now disclose this much sought after piece of information.  The top two occupations that I … (1 comments)

Anticipating an "Endo" and a Shattered Skull!! Funniest Thing I Ever Saw - 06/14/07 01:40 PM
Not long ago, I went on a mountain bike journey through the mountains to the north of my native Rosamond.  I was joined on this particular day by a good friend of mine named Brian.  Brian is a cool guy.  He is the kind of guy who would shove a quarter up his nose on a dare.  The kind of guy who is always the life of the party.  The kind of guy who generally ends up in PAIN...
This particular day was no exception.  It started out well enough, we made it through the hardest uphill parts of the … (1 comments)

Stud of the Year - 06/13/07 07:33 PM
Ladies and gentlemen, just today a blog was written by my boss John Evarts in an effort to introduce me to all of the fine folks on this site.  You can read this fine piece of literature by clicking here.
However, I could not in good conscience accept his praises without dispensing a few of my own.  I can only hope that as I gain momentum on this site and try to develop a faithful base of readers, that I can one day mirror the greatness of the guy that I have the privilege of calling my boss.  Ladies and Gentlemen, … (2 comments)

HIV and Real Estate - 06/05/07 08:44 PM
My house is worth at least $2,400 in rent every month.  My sister lives one block away and she rented hers out for that much only one year ago!
Ah, that my friends is the nail in the coffin.  When you work in the rental field, you will probably encounter this type of a statement fairly often.  I will admit that it is understandable.  Everyone wants to get the most money that they possibly can out of their rental property.  Unfortunately, the money that you could POSSIBLY get is not the same as the money that you'll PROBABLY get.  I have … (7 comments)

Apply Sun Blog...SPF 30 - 06/02/07 11:44 PM
This weeks forecast calls for flash-flooding, tornadoes, and a high probability of spontaneous human combustion.
Have you ever gotten any really crappy news?  If you live on planet earth I am sure that you have.  Hopefully nothing as severe as the headline above, but I am pretty certain that you have had some bad news delivered to you at one time or another.
Through careful observation of human behavior, I have come to realize that if you mix in a little bit of humor with the bad news, the result is usually a more positive outlook on the situation.  Obviously there are … (5 comments)

Why the Desert "ROCKS" - 06/01/07 04:25 PM
Why would anyone want to live in the desert?!?  This is the question that I get from a lot of my friends who live down south in the Los Angeles area.  The truth is, I can't really blame them for asking!  In this day and age, the only desert most people see is Iraq!  Unfortunately, that limited experience of the desert has caused them to miss out on all the great aspects of living in a place like the Antelope Valley.
On a recent mountain bike journey along the mountains north of Rosamond, I was struck by just how beautiful the … (1 comments)
