Blakeney-Ardrey Homes and Neighborhoods
South Charlotte real estate has always been a safe bet. Whether it was south Charlotte close to uptown (like Myers Park), or further south in Charlotte, down near Ballantyne.  It seems that the Ballantyne development had grown so fast, that it has gushed over its original borders. This new hot spot is Blakeney, located in the vicinity of Ardrey Kell and Rea Road.
Ballantyne was so popular from the onset, it was a natural to re-create parts of it, just two miles down the road. The land was available, the infrastructure was in place, … (4 comments)

Ballantyne Homes Just South of Uptown Charlotte - 07/27/09 01:17 PM

The latest, greatest in prestigious home addresses for the Charlotte real estate market, would have to be in Ballantyne. Ballantyne was developed on a stretch of beautiful land (previously the Morrison Hunting Preserve)  under the keen eye of Smokey Bissel, who named the development after his Aunt, Barbara Ballantyne.  Although in Charlotte, the Ballantyne area operates like a town unto itself. The Ballantyne development is  located deep in South Charlotte; right on the edge of both the Union County and South Carolina borders. Near the intersection of Johnston Road and I-485, with Ballantyne Commons running through its middle.
The upscale nature of this … (4 comments)

Myers Park-Prestigious Neighborhood of Who's Who in Charlotte NC - 07/23/09 10:56 PM
Under the historic canopied boulevards of Myers Park the birds tweet and the joggers jog. This is where the elite of Charlotte planted their roots many years ago, and those on the move live today. They are set in a nest of harmony between uptown and the outward sprawl. Pleasing, accessible, yet exclusive, you get to be enveloped by the old and the new.
For the most part, the old money has helped usher in the new. Casual ease of upscale style brings with it the calm feel of this neighborhood. The estate sized lots have signature homes set back in … (2 comments)

Summer Slumber will make a Cold December Day not Far Away - 07/23/09 04:58 PM
How chilling will it be when you find out that your loan can’t close any sooner than December 2 ? This will be the sound of the Soup Nazi saying:”No 8k bonus for you!”
But relax money isn’t everything.
You probably don’t need an extra $8k in your pocket.                       Or do you? Are you good at games? Well now is the time to play the game Beat the Clock.
By the way, you can use the money for anything you want. And Christmas gifts are fun to get and fun … (6 comments)

Defying Age and all Odds, Tom Watson proves Experience and Determination is a winning combination - 07/19/09 05:04 PM
I have something to look forward to!
At age 59, Tom Watson stunned the golfing world by nearly winning the British Open. This is an age when Golf Professionals have hung up their shoes and are relaxing in retirement regaling in days of yore. Who would have thought that a 59 year old athlete would surpass Tiger Woods.
Tom’s last major championship occurred 26 years ago. A date that precedes the birth of many professional golfers today.
I’m inspired !
Most winning combinations are forged in experience and determination, that starts with a solid game plan and culminates with … (8 comments)

Happy cows come from Charlotte, North Carolina - 07/16/09 06:01 PM
Sorry, California, we have happy cows here, too.
Having never seen an irate cow in Charlotte, I’m making a leap to assume they're all happy. Too bad for the nervous Chickens and Turkeys and Pigs, as North Carolina is a huge producer these animals.
If you’ve noticed I have omitted horses, there is a reason. I will address horses in another post.
This post is cow centric.
Our cows seem to be unfazed by the loss of pasture land that they used to occupy here in Mecklenburg County. Once abundantly dotted with numerous dairy farms, this area has succumbed to … (14 comments)

Bobbing for some Foreclosed Homes in Charlotte is like Bobbing for Apples - 07/14/09 04:17 PM
Sometimes you have to take a big bite.
Great foreclosed homes at irresistible prices require buyers to be prepared to give their highest and best offers. Why? Because if it is an unbelievable deal, it will have multiple offers submitted. If you really want the house and are prepared to pay for it… go for it.
Are you overpaying for the home? Ask your agent; for the most part, no. You are just paying a higher price than the listed price. It probably still will be a great bargain.
Is this a bait and switch? No. Banks realize at times that … (26 comments)

Tips on Schools and Moving Your Kids - 07/09/09 02:41 PM
The big move...Okay, that would be ANY move!
It all starts innocently enough. You start looking at homes on the Internet, then in the Sunday paper;  you might even stop by an Open House or a new home development.
Suddenly, the bug has you! It's time to buy the next home!
If you have children, the schools will play a big role in how well your family fares. And if you don't have children, you should know that the schools also play a big role in how your home's equity will do over time. There is a symbiotic relationship between the … (2 comments)

Charlotte Music and Clubs - 07/09/09 02:27 PM
Just about 12 years ago...or so...let's say the mid 1990's...Charlotte's city leaders were making much ado about nothing...because there was nothing to do uptown. We had a new Convention Center and a big reputation for boring. The city closed at 6:00PM when the businesses closed. And we were Boring....now, I can proudly proclaim..we are boring no more!!!
Nowadays, our uptown is booming...now there is much ado about stuff to do! So much in fact, that now we have policemen on foot, horseback, bicycles and segways!
The club life will have you Howling at the Moon, or sinking into a Whiskey River. … (0 comments)

Slow Down, Check Out the View, You May Not Get Another Chance - 07/07/09 06:13 PM
The view from where you are,  may be something to admire. Perhaps it's worth a second look?
It may be a spot from where you are Going to:.... either way...

Take a glance.
This may be just another nondescript location on your journey.

While I have admitted my affair, I’m trying to fall back in love with Real Estate - 07/02/09 03:48 PM
I went to the AP, but, alas, they weren’t interested in my story…so I am sharing it here.
I have had many openly torrid Business affairs.
This one affair lingers in my mind. I can’t seem to just let it go.
I consummated one of my business affairs with the golf industry and worked it for a while. Having been married to the Real Estate Business for quite some time, I strayed to golf on flings in California, Florida, and the Carolina's; I’m trying to fall back in love with Real Estate. The only problem is that Golf is my … (15 comments)
