entertaiment and the arts: Scottsdale ranked #8 of Top 50 CIties! - 07/15/10 05:52 PM
Thanks to Parenting Magazine for recently ranking Scottsdale, Arizona as number 8 of the top 50 “ Cities for Families 2010”!  We have lived here since 1981 and raised our two children here. I agree with the Parenting Magazine assessment and even think we could rank higher!  Our kids thrived in both the Scottsdale public and private school systems.  They have now graduated from college and are married. Scottsdale is a great place to raise happy healthy kids.
To compile the information for the city ranking,  the Parenting Magazine surveyed women who were members of the magazine's MomConnection research panel, a … (1 comments)

entertaiment and the arts: A Spring Hike in the McDowell Mountain Sonoran Preserve - 03/25/10 04:10 PM
With relatives in town happy to be out of the Oregon rain, we opted to take a hike at the local Lost Dog Wash trail in the McDowell Mountain Preserve.  Only about 5 miles from our home in Scottsdale, this trail is a great take to take guests. It is a relatively easy trail with a gradual elevation that provides beautiful views of the city and the mountains. We discussed how amazing it was to be able to go so close to home and yet to feel like you were out in the wilderness.
With the more than normal amount of … (0 comments)

entertaiment and the arts: Hockey in the Desert - a fun evening for all - 03/05/10 08:05 PM
I must admit, that after growing up in California and moving to Arizona, I have not had much opportunity to understand the game of ice hockey.  But, being an avid sports fan, when the opportunity arose for tickets to a Coyote game, I was 'game' for the night out.
We left ealry to beat the rush hour traffic to drive from Scottsdale to Glendale for the 7pm game. We arrived in plenty of time to park at Jobing.com Arnna snd reveiw the many restaurant opportunities for a quick dinner before the game.  We opted for the Yard House and were not disappointed. … (2 comments)

There was a wide variety of arts and crafts displayed in 500+ booths!  One could find almost anything from clothes for your dog to clothes for the family. There were some beautiful home decorations, a multitude of foods to purchase - fudge, roasted nuts, spice packages for dips, salsas, and fruits; gourmet coffees & teas, olive oils & specialty vinegars. After sampling the spice chai tea, we purchased 3 flavors to indulge in later.  We also could not resist the Rosemary with Roasted Garlic oil … (0 comments)

entertaiment and the arts: Are You Motivated?? - 02/06/10 11:27 AM
The Get Motivated Business Seminar presented at America West Arena on Feb 4, 2010 was both an entertaining and inspiring day! The advertised goals of the event were things like goal achievement, team building, communication, time management and increased productivity but I found motivational life changing nuggets of wisdom from these dynamic speakers. Speakers included ports icons Kurt Warner and Steve Nash, successful businessmen Steve Forbes and Zig Ziggler, Rudy Giuliani, General Colin Powell and Laura Bush. Now, how can you not learn something from such successful individuals?

This diverse cross section of powerful speakers shared their passion and internal … (2 comments)

I have to say that I love meeting all the diversified and talented individuals whom I am fortunate enough to assist in buying and selling homes here in Scottsdale, Arizona.
I met Donna and Herbert when I was a relatively new Scottsdale Realtor.  We became fast friends and kept in touch for several years. Finally, Donna convinced Herbert that they just had to move to Arizona. So, we began a search for them and their pets.  They now have a lovely home in north central Scottsdale and have not regretted moving "west".
We have remained good friends. I asked Donna if … (0 comments)

entertaiment and the arts: Sentimental Journey—a night in the 40’s - 03/22/09 05:02 PM
Dinner, dancing, a dance contest and a costume contest provided a pleasant evening of entertainment for all who participated. The Arizona Wing of the Commemorative Air Force hosted  “A night in the 40’s Big Band Dance” last night in the Arizona Wing Hanger Museum at Falcon Field in Mesa, Arizona.
The open hanger and mild temps are perfect for the evening of fun.  The B-17 Sentimental Journey among other WWII aircraft and memorabilia provided  the backdrop for this nostalgic event. I must admit that I was not here in the 1940’s (close though) but a celebration of the sacrifices of … (1 comments)
