scott updates: Vultures are alive and well in Scottsdale - 06/21/10 09:58 PM
The excessive rain this winter brought more vegetation which in turn allowed for a larger than normal wild rabbit population to survive here in the beautiful Sonoran Desert. We have lived on our acre ranch style home here in Scottsdale since 1986. We typically have a wild rabbit population devouring our landscaping like a smorgasbord. Due to the excess rabbit population this season, they roam the yards and are seen more frequently than they normally would be. This provides great entertainment for our dog who endlessly chases after them to keep our back yard 'bunny free'. They are much faster than (3 comments)
scott updates: Hockey in the Desert - a fun evening for all - 03/05/10 08:05 PM
I must admit, that after growing up in California and moving to Arizona, I have not had much opportunity to understand the game of ice hockey. But, being an avid sports fan, when the opportunity arose for tickets to a Coyote game, I was 'game' for the night out. We left ealry to beat the rush hour traffic to drive from Scottsdale to Glendale for the 7pm game. We arrived in plenty of time to park at Jobing.com Arnna snd reveiw the many restaurant opportunities for a quick dinner before the game. We opted for the Yard House and were not disappointed. scott updates: Are You Motivated?? - 02/06/10 11:27 AM
The Get Motivated Business Seminar presented at America West Arena on Feb 4, 2010 was both an entertaining and inspiring day! The advertised goals of the event were things like goal achievement, team building, communication, time management and increased productivity but I found motivational life changing nuggets of wisdom from these dynamic speakers. Speakers included ports icons Kurt Warner and Steve Nash, successful businessmen Steve Forbes and Zig Ziggler, Rudy Giuliani, General Colin Powell and Laura Bush. Now, how can you not learn something from such successful individuals?
This diverse cross section of powerful speakers shared their passion and internal (2 comments)
scott updates: The Celebration of Fine Art show in Scottsdale, AZ - 01/24/10 12:41 PM
You would think that after living in Scottsdale for almost 30 years, we would have already attended this art show. But, it took an invitation from past clients to get us there. We really enjoyed the magnificent art work, meeting many of the artists and eating a great lunch! We will definitely make this an annual event! The Celebration of Fine Art show at Scottsdale Rd & the 101 Freeway is celebrating it’s 20th year of presenting very talented artists in an studio like venue. The show began Jan 16th and will run through March 28, 2010. The 40,000+ sf tent (3 comments)
scott updates: So, What are the odds that the dog could flood the bathroom? - 05/29/09 07:13 PM
I must admit that our little rescue dog , Heidi, is adorable and very sweet. This is probably the only reason that she remains ‘our dog’ these days. She is a lovely dog but has separation anxiety whenever we leave the house without her. Needless to say, during the past year since her adoption, she has trained us to attempt to figure out the things she could possibly get in to while we are away. So much for screens. Lets put it this way, she is banned from the house because she either chews something or carries it around so we (3 comments)
scott updates: Play Ball - Spring Training in AZ - 03/10/09 11:25 PM
The Cactus League is now in full "swing" as the professional and want-to-be professional baseball players descend on the Valley of the Sun to practice for the 2009 MLB season. It is a fun time for all baseball lovers. The stadiums are smaller, the players are closer to the fans, autographs are easier to obtain and there is an excitement in the air. We traveled to Peoria Stadium, spring training home of the Seattle Mariners, for a game against our beloved Arizona Diamondbacks. The weather was perfect, slightly overcast making it less bight and in the mid 70's. Unfortunately the Diamondback's (1 comments)
scott updates: A trip to the dog park - 02/08/09 04:53 PM
Scottsdale offers 3 ‘off leash’ dog parks, but my favorite is Chaparral Park located in central Scottsdale. This is a great place for pet lovers and for their dogs! Our rescue dog Heidi has acclimated to our family quite nicely and now rules the roost. She is currently attending doggie training classes but also needs to be ‘socialized. So we were off for our first trip to the dog park to learn some doggie etiquette. Chaparral is the largest of the Scottsdale off leash parks (4 acres) offering large divided fenced areas—one for passive and one for active dogs. There area (0 comments)
scott updates: FBR Open 2009 - Scottsdale is the place to be! - 01/29/09 03:13 PM
The FBR Open (formerly the Phoenix Open) is in full swing here in Scottsdale, Arizona. This tournament is played at the Tournament Players Club (TPC) in north central Scottsdale. The TPC Stadium course hosted it’s first FBR Open in 1987 and has evolved in to the largest attended golf event in the world! The are expecting 500,000+ attendees this year. Yesterday, January 23, 2009 was Celebrity Day. Since we were offered free tickets we opted to ‘played hokey’ and took the day off to enjoy the outdoors and watch the golfers. Although it was bright and sunny, it was a brisk 57 degrees when (3 comments)
scott updates: My adventure on the new Phoenix Light Rail - 01/08/09 08:33 PM
There certainly has been a lot of excitement lately about the new Phoenix light rail system which officially opened for passenger service in December 2008. After all the hype and having to deal with traveling on several road being torn up as they built the system over the past several months, I myself was anxious to give it a try! Unfortunately at this time, the rail does not come to Scottsdale but I had to make a trip to Tempe, so I decided to test it out and take advantage of the 'no fare' ride being offered. Since each station (1 comments)
scott updates: Locally grown produce—the movement of the future - 12/16/08 10:42 AM
The futuristic farmer will conserve water and land. The higher quality produce, the healthy better taste and the reduced cost of transportation contribute to the movement toward locally grown produce. The advantages of locally grown fruits and vegetables has become increasingly popular with not only the farmers markets but also with mainstream stores such as Whole Foods and Wal-Mart. Restaurants and caterers are also joining the movement to purchase the local produce. Thus allowing them to serve fresh healthy foods that are at peak of freshness and flavor. We are excited about the latest hydroponic entrepreneurial project that our son (0 comments)

scott updates: My newly acquired e-PRO designation! - 11/14/08 03:13 PM
As a former computer programmer, I thought I knew a lot about computers. So, needless to say, I was somewhat humbled by the vast amount of information available that I was unaware of. In this ever evolving ‘computer age’ the technology advances are increasing is available. Sometimes too much info is so overwhelming that you don’t even know where to begin. I am truly excited and amazed at how much I learned from this class that I can now effectively incorporate in to my real estate business to benefit both buyers and sellers! The e-PRO Internet Technology Certification Program which teaches Realtors (0 comments)
scott updates: An Afternoon of the Frys PGA golf Tournament in Scottsdale - 10/24/08 08:30 PM
While the mid 80’s may sound hot to some, for us Arizonans it has been a welcome relief. It was a perfect day for attending the Frys.com open at the Grayhawk Golf Club here in Scottsdale. We were able to take in some great golfing by some well known golfers such as Davis Love 3, Billy Mayfair and Bob Tway. Many of the names on the pairing sheet I was not familiar with but some of them were playing very well and in the lead. This less well known tournament does not compare to the popular FBR Open (formerly the Phoenix Open) which is (0 comments)
scott updates: Any day is a great day to play golf in AZ - 09/23/08 05:35 PM
Any day is a great day to play golf, especially here in Arizona where we have such favorable weather! With 200+ golf courses in the greater Phoenix area, it is usually possible to find a tee time especially in the summer months. Actually, golfing in the summer is not that bad and the prices are a bargain. There are several ‘twilight’ leagues with special rates as well. So slather on the sun screen, get your hat, sun glasses and schedule a tee time. The early morning or later afternoon tee times are the best summer golf times! Recently I took a Saturday off (0 comments)
scott updates: Our New Adopted Rescue Dog! - 09/03/08 08:32 AM
As animal lovers, it was very distressing when our beloved 15 year old mini Schnauzer, Daisy, passed away in June. We allowed some time before we began our search for a new dog to join our family. After such a long time of not having to search for a pet, we found that there are multiple sites on line for pet searching. In today’s environment with many pets needing homes, we opted to look to adopt a ‘rescue dog’ instead of a simply finding a new puppy. One more dog saved from facing ultimate death for lack of a new owner!! (0 comments)
