Yesterday, we lost someone who I thought was one of the funniest comedians/actors of our time, Leslie Nielson.

For the first time in history I set foot in a store on the day after Thanksgiving.  I have never done that before.  
Out of a need for some items at CVS, I got into my car and drove awhile.  Since it was not raining as had been previously forecast I thought I might venture a little further to actually get a few errands done on this quiet and otherwise uneventful day.

From Christmas enthusiasts to holiday Grinch's, everyone has their own timetable about when to start bringing in the holiday spirit. 
When I was driving through the downtown areas of Metrowest towns, as early as two weeks ago, the streets were already decked out with official holiday wreaths and festive city lights. I am sure I must have winced at this.  It is equal to the feeling I get when I call a company these days and they put me on hold with Christmas music.

I received good news when I went to my mailbox today - from the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.  
As Massachusetts Realtors we are finally, at long last, able to take our continuing education courses on-line! 
Every two years real estate agents in Massachusetts must renew their licenses in order to be considered active.  The state requires that real estate Brokers and Salespersons complete 12 hours of approved continuing education as part of this process. 
Until recently, that meant physically sitting in a classroom for twelve hours to complete the requirement.

Massachusetts Unemployment Rate drops to 8.1% 
According to an article in the Boston Globe today the unemployment rate in Massachusetts is moving in the right direction.  It is now down to 8.1% which is the lowest it has been since April of 2009. 
Nearly 10,000 jobs were added in October which is a relatively strong number for the current state of the economy.  Since January, the state has added nearly 50,000 jobs and that can only be viewed as promising.

Jacuzzi Tubs - Do People Actually Use Them Anymore? - 11/15/10 04:47 PM
Okay, we are not supposed to use the word "Jacuzzi" so, let me correct that and say - whirlpool tubs.  If you understand my meaning, these are the large tubs with jets that have become a staple of the luxury bathroom. 
Due to their size, the whirlpool tub takes 3 to 5 minutes to fill and actually does consume many gallons of water.

Energy Efficient Light Bulbs - A Household Help and a Hazard - 11/13/10 10:17 PM
These days, so many people are changing their light bulbs from incandescent to Compact Florescent Light bulbs to save on household energy.  
CFLs and other florescent type bulbs operate using much less energy than the standard bulbs we are all accustomed to and provide the same amount of light. They have also been proven to last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. 
So, saving on Massachusetts energy bills seems like a no brainer, right?

There has been more than a little talk lately in Washington over the possibility of taking away one of the most popular tax breaks in history - namely the mortgage interest deduction. 
Are our politicians brave or, perhaps, insane enough to actually tread on this sacred cow at such a tenuous time in the housing market?
