What is Happening with the Massachusetts Casino Bill?
After several years of debate over a bill to legalize casino gambling in Massachusetts, the issue has now come to a sudden stalemate.
Last Friday, both the state House and Senate voted yes on a bill to expand gambling in Massachusetts. The bill proposed legislation that would allow three resort style casinos and two racetrack slot parlors. The House vote was 115-36 in favor and the Senate backed it with a 25-15 vote.

Casino Gambling in Massachusetts May be Right around the Corner
With the legalization of casinos on the horizon in Massachusetts, plans are being drawn up for a massive casino complex right here in the Metrowest area in Milford, Massachusetts.
Developer, David Nunes, executive of Ajax Gaming Ventures, promises a gambling hall that has all the bells and whistles of Las Vegas yet with a more traditional look and feel.
The proposed $600 million complex will be named The Crossroads Casino and is slated to have up to 3,000 slot machines, five restaurants and a 300-room hotel with 24-hour food service.

As a follow-up to post that I wrote in September "Casino Gambling - Is This Any Way to Fix a Faltering Economy?" the issue was once again discussed today in the Boston Globe.
Speaker of the House, Robert A. DeLeo has put his stamp of approval on a bill that will, more than likely, result in the legalization of expanded gambling in Massachusetts. This bill will be backing an idea that Governor Deval Patrick put forward in 2008 to license three resort-style casinos in the state.

The issue of Casino Gambling in Massachusetts has had new life breathed into it this week.
House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo has said that he has "expanded his thinking" and would like to see resort casinos implemented in Massachusetts. Prior to this he had only supported the idea of slot machines at the state's horse and dog tracks.
He joins Senate President, Therese Murray who said a speech on Friday that Massachusetts should legalize casinos and specifically capture some of the revenue that is escaping to Connecticut through Foxwoods Casino and the Mohegan Sun.
