In Transylvania County in western North Carolina, residential sales during January 2011 remained relatively stable compared to the same time last year ending the month with 16 sales, one more than in 2010. The biggest difference between 2010 and 2011 was in the listing and selling prices. In January 2010 a number of higher end homes sold, driving the average listing price up to $281,273 and the average selling price to $257,433 or roughly 90%. A bazillion years ago when I was working in retail we were taught that if you have a customer standing in front of you and the phone rings, your obligation is to take care of the customer in front of you first. If you absolutely have to answer the phone, you take their number and ask to call them back, then return as quickly as possible to the customer standing at the counter.
