"AS IS" What Does That Really Mean? - 01/21/10 01:13 PM
Gabrielle, you have written on a very timely topic in today's foreclosure market. Many buyers are afraid of an "as is" home - but perhap's should not be. As a Home Inspector, my husband does many inspections of "as is" properties. The more important part is to get that home inspection - it is definitely worth the cost. It may be worth hiring the inspector to walk through the house even before the offer is written. Thanks for sharing your thoughts - its worth the re-blog. Anne

Don't Miss Those Tax Credits ... When Buying a Home or Making Green Home Improvements
(Excerpted from ARAcontent from The Calvert Recorder Newspaper)
A wide range of tax law changes over the last year will result in considerable savings for millions of Americans on their 2009 federal tax returns. Homebuyers and homeowners have some of the most to gain from these changes in tax credits.
Understanding the qualifications for home-related  tax credits can be confusing and intimidating. Jessi Dolmage, spokeswoman for 2nd Story Sofware, the makers of TaxACT, breaks them down:   "If you've never owned or haven't owned a principal residence … (2 comments)

5 Things to do Before Putting Your Home on the Market in Lusby Maryland
1. Have a Pre-sale Home Inspection - Be proactive by arranging for a pre-sale home inspection. An inspector will be able to give you a good indication of the trouble areas that will stand out to potential buyers, and you'll be able to make repairs before open houses begin.
2. Organize and Clean - Pare down clutter and pack up your least - used items, such as large blenders and other kitchen tools, out-of-season clothes, toys and exercise equipment. Store items off-site or in boxes neatly arranged in … (1 comments)

Procuring cause, buyer's agency and the incompetent agent...Who really loses? - 01/11/10 02:07 PM
Procuring cause, buyer's agency and the incompetent agent...Who really loses?
Procuring cause and buyer's agency affects all of us, whether in residential resale or new home sales. I'm active in Calvert and St. Mary's Counties in Southern Maryland in the resale market, having been in new home sales and management for a number of years. Procuring cause is especially tricky in new homes because many builders require a form to be filled out and it's only good for 30 days. If the buyer comes back later without the agent - legally no commission is owed. I always had a soft spot … (1 comments)
