Actually it was two people who made me very happy, Prince William County, VA REALTOR'S® Arthur and Karen Kruschka. You see Karen posted a blog titled 'Why I Love My Husband #7'. I thought she was very brave to post that photo because now others might fall in love with Art too!

Karen and Art never forgot my love of bread and breadmaking, I used to buy flour in 50 lb bags... for real. Last week I received an email from them asking for my home address because Art was baking his fabulous loaves that week. Well Friday afternoon the UPS delivery truck pulled up and the gentleman stated this was a special overnight delivery. Oh you bet it was, he had gold in his hands!

The package contained these delicious goodies.......not one but two!

Make someone happy,
Make just one someone happy,
And you will be happy, too.

I only commented on Karen's blog. Can you imagine being a real estate client of the Kruschka's? Wowsa!!! These guys are way cool!

How to update your light fixtures with a press of a nozzel...photos included.

This blog post is about how easy and inexpensive it is to update your light fixtures with a press of a nozzle, also included are the why's behind this project. In this example a switch out of the pendant's glass globe was done for the finishing touch!

Whether you are selling and in need of an update or simply want a fresh new look for your light fixture, this basic project is a cost effective way of re-purposing what you already have. Many people are not confident in doing this themselves but don't second guess yourself anymore, you CAN do this!

This is my own home lighting update to illustrate the ease of this project and why I would switch out a perfectly good light fixture.

Listed below are the two paint products I used in this project.

1 - RUST-OLEUM PRIMER - for use on bare metal, previously painted and rusted surfaces.

2 - RUST-OLEUM METALLIC - for wood, metal, plastic and masonry. OIL RUBBED BRONZE (notice the easy on the hands trigger spray for those with joint pain this trigger spray is great). The metallic in this paint was perfect for this project, it was just enough to keep the finished product form looking flat!

The pendant lights were taken down. Be sure the breaker is turned off before removal of the fixture and if you are unsure of this step please get a professional to help you with these matters!

Pick a non windy day for this project as you will want to spray outside to avoid the paint fumes. To avert drips keep a steady motion and spray going with a back and forth motion barely covering your layers. Keep the can about 12' to 16' from the surface while you are spraying. Don't forget to shake your can before you start ;)

I let the primer dry 24 hours before using the finishing color which I also let dry 24 before the install. Don't forget to spray any exposed hardware used in hanging the fixture.

The down rod is primed and ready for the finishing paint.

The ceiling caps are dried and ready to be installed.

Before

As you can see the pendant lighting looks fine, in fact the downpoles were very smart looking. As beautiful as this island is, it appears to be floating and it needs to be anchored. The brushed nickle finish didn't complement the beautiful cherry island the and the stark white globes did not complement the cream cabinetry that the pervious owners had installed. The dark tiles on the stove backsplash helped but this kitchen needed at least one more design element to warm up this kitchen.

AFTER

The darker lighting now anchors the island and the new globes give the kitchen an transitional look. The cost of this light update project was $13 for the paint / primer and $11 dollars a piece for the globe.

Updating your lighting fixtures really is as easy as a press of the nozzle!

Things to Know About Your Home 2

This blog comes courtesy of my wise friend Jack Gilleland who owns Home Inspection Services in Clayton, Ohio.

With Christmas season right around the corner his timely advice about the importance of the correct tension inside the outlets in your home may save your life and home too! I've been guilty of being one those creative people he was talking about in his blog, but not anymore.

Thank you Jack for your great advice!

     One of the most aggravating things at my house are having the plugs fall out of the outlets when I'm using whatever it was at the other end of the cord. In an older home you can have this happen repeatedly because the tension on the contacts inside the outlet lessens over time. If you have a new outlet you can feel the tension as you insert the plug, an old outlet offers little or no resistance to the plug being inserted.

     This is not only aggravating, but it can also be dangerous. Less tension can cause the plug to slide out and possibly create an arch that could cause a fire. Considering how cheaply this can be repaired, there is no reason not to fix this problem. If your one of those creative people that bend the prongs on the plug to create more tension, your fooling yourself. I bought 3 outlets Sat. and it cost less than 5 dollars.

            The arrow on the outlet cover points to a burnt mark that was most likely caused by a loose plug that was brought on by the loss of tension in the outlet. This WILL happen to your outlets. There is no maybe or wait and see, over time it will happen. A word of caution to the household handyman or handywoman: This is 110 to 120 volts on a 15 or 20 amp breaker and that is enough to at least burn you and at most KILL you. Seek professional help (and I don't mean a psychiatrist). If your going to ignore my recommendation then PLEASE TURN THE POWER OFF. By the way if you don't know how to turn the power off then you need to call an electrician.

Now, maybe you did know all that and if that is the case I apologize for repeating it. If you didn't then you now know something about your house you didn't know before.

In downtown Granville, Ohio on Beggar's Night they were ready to woo...I saw THING 1 and Gene Simmons too! The residents had gotten into a spooky spirit for Beggar's Night, they waiting on their doorsteps to give out treats to wee ones and tall ones at first sight!

There was THING 1..............................................................and Gene Simmons too!

Being new to the town I had no idea what to expect and was astounded by what I saw! There were such elaborate home decorations and displays, I wasn't sure who had more fun the shorties or the tall.

This fun resident was ready to enthrall!

I went with my good friend Graham who was dressed as a skeleton pirate, the streets were bustling this was going to be a fun riot. He was pretty scary looking, good thing I knew it was him under that costume or else I would have went a bookin'.

Should we visit the spider house.....................................or watch this witch stirring her brew?

Pumpkins were plenty.............................................................and costumed wiener dogs too!

Things were getting pretty darn scary and we were getting ready to call it a night...........

But the pumpkin man waved us over..................and the trash can creature said it would be all right...

..........................as long as the Granville Po-Po was still in sight!

These talented musicians were jamming................................ignoring the shaving cream fight.

Later that evening I spotted the Sock Monkey, that's when I knew everything was going to be all right!

The 2010 season for Farmers Market in Granville, Ohio is coming to close this Oct, 23rd. Make plans to to scoop up the goodies this Saturday! Buying directly from local growers & vendors is a great way to enjoy the fresh taste of organically grown produce & fruits. The cottage industry bakers, and candy makers have some of the best products I've ever tasted.

Here are just a few things you may find at the market...the winter veggies are coming in and so I had to say so long to the delicious corn & tomatoes from a few weeks ago but don't fret yet, there are many more items to chose from at this diverse Farmer's Market.

How to update an old mirror frame to a more transitional look

How to update a mirror frame to a more transitional look. Do you have a mirror that you wish had a different look? Maybe you saw a brand new one with a different finish you long for and now it's begging you to buy it!

Before you shell out the $$$ on the new mirror try this project! It's easy and you can change & layer any of the finishes to suit your styling needs. In the example below I didn't want to get rid of the gold entirely because I wanted the look of mixed metals, so I let a bit of gold peek out.

I used the following products that can be found at your local craft store;

* Design Master spray in Glossy Wood Tone

* Design Master spray in Walnut Wood Tone

* Design Master spray in Copper Metallic
* Rub n' Buff in Spanish Copper
* Rub n' Buff in Silver Leaf

* Treasure Gold in Pewter (pictured in the small pot)

* A stiff bristle brush & soft bristle brush

Before

First lightly spray on the Glossy wood Tone, let dry. Then lightly layer w/ the Copper spray, let dry. Lastly layer the Walnut Wood Tone. It dries fast so this project can be done in under an hour. With the large stiff bristle brush I put some of the Rub n' Buff on a piece of wax paper lightly dabbed the brush into it and randomly hit the mirror in desired spots. I next did the same as above w/ the silver leaf Rub n' Buff only this time I used a small soft bristle brush to hit some of the raised area on the mirror and the outer edging grooves. For another layer of a darker pewter accent in the mirror frame I used part of the stiff bristle brush to dab a few randomly places for the finishing touch.

Be sure spray outside on a non windy day!

After

The products used to create this new look last a looooong time, you'll find many uses for them! So now go ahead and update that old mirror frame to more transitional look! Good luck on your project and if you have any questions I'll try to answer them for you.

Photos from the 2010 Hotlicks Bluesfest in Granville, Ohio...it was a red hot & blue day! The temperature that day was mild but the tunes were sure hot in downtown Granville. If you didn't get a chance to make it to the FREE Hotlicks Bluesfest here's a few photos to get you started on your weekend fun.

Big Al Groth from Reverend Raven & The Chain Smokin' Altar Boys was wailing away on stage and shaking things up by stepping down from the stage and going into the crowd.

Reverend Raven on lead guitar & vocals, P.T. Pedersen on bass, Bobby Lee Sellers Jr. on drums and Big Al Groth on saxophone. Want to know what they sounded like? Click here to visit the website get ready to groove!

A fun day for all, even the dogs were shaking their tails! My honey Ted had to cool down after wiggling his hips with a Goose Island IPA, if you like a hoppy beer this is the brew for you! If not, there were many others libations to choose from and the friendly volunteers there helped you steer your palette in the right direction.

The closing act for the evening was Wille Big Eyes Smith. Willie did session work for Muddy Waters and was eventually asked to joined Muddy's band in 1968. Willie played with him until 1980. Here are photos of him that evening at the 2010 Hotlicks Bluesfest on the harp and on vocals.

No other words necessary... you can feel his soul stirring blues through these photos.

A smokin' hot night...

There was dancing in the street and grooving in the seats!

A good time was had by all...me included! Put this Bluesfest on your calendar next year you won't want to miss it!

Hotlicks Bluesfest Sept.18th Granville, Ohio ~ See ya there baby!

Lookin' for good time this Saturday? Look no further cause it's the 10th annual Hotlicks Bluesfest this Saturday Sept. 18th located in beautiful downtown Granville, Ohio. Woo-Hoo! Just so you know East Broadway between Main and Prospect Streets will be closed. Bring your lawn chairs and remember this is family friendly event so be on your best behavior or your Mama or Pops will surely jerk a knot in your tail!

The Bluesfest in Granville is a 'FREE' event organized by the Granville Federation for the Appreciation of the Blues. I'm so looking forward to this event and will be bringing my honey and my camera!

Tips on how to get your home SOLD in a down market...it takes TEAMWORK!

Here are tips on how to get your home sold in today's market and it takes teamwork baby! Teamwork between you, your RE agent and your family members, everybody has to get in the game. So get ready to read, learn and get busy so you can sell your home. Every selling circumstance is different but this is how I did it successfully and you can too.

The old adage still prevails, location, condition, price, pick your REA wisely and don't forget the WOW FACTOR that's where a home stager/stylist will have your buyers thinking "I want it and I want it now!"

Location

The homes in my area don't move as quickly as home closer to downtown Atlanta but I did have attractive area selling features I could promote. There is a cute historical downtown area, a beautiful lake, water park and rafting nearby so a color handout was added to the promotional material. Look around what your area has to offer and let prospective buyers know all about the fun in your area!

Condition

When I'm speaking of condition I'm talking about the working condition of your home, not cosmetic. If you know something isn't working get it fixed by a professional NOW! The home inspector will no doubt find it and it's better to have little things on the inspector's list and not leave your buyer in doubt about their dream home.

The Home Stager/ Property Stylist will help you with the wow factor

You want your home to appeal to as many buyers as possible and a home stager will be able to help you achieve this look. This is the fun part, I promise you! From a simple consult to a few hours of redesigning, the home stager will give you valuable tips on how to best to prepare your property for sale to get it sold. Since I'm a home stager I knew exactly what to do and followed my own advice. It takes teamwork to achieve this and and the results are gonna pay off, plus you'll garner great new ideas from the stager you can implement in your next home! Here are a few of my own home pictures below;

Have a welcoming front porch Side appeal helps too

Keep it simple and clean off those counters Open floors plans have to have flow smoothly

Keep it clean and simple at all times Show off the architectural details not the stuff

Show off updated lighting Make your outside space inviting with a freshened up deck

Interview your Real Eastate agents

Ask about their marketing plans for your home. Will they be there for you when you have questions, do they have back up staff to help if you can't get in contact with them? Do they believe in teamwork?

Next the hard part...

Price

It's time to get serious and realize memories & sentimentality do not add value to your home, it's a whole new market out there. I bought in an up market and had to come to grips with the real world of selling in a down market. I sought out a savvy REA who wanted to sell homes and not acquire listings. I looked at the comps and trend in home sales in my area she gave me and we both agreed on a realistic selling price. A price that would motivate multiple showings and contracts. Yep it was a hard pill to swallow but hey I wanted the home to sell not sit there and look pretty!

This REA also believes in home staging so I made it easy for her, she's familiar with my work! I asked her to go through the home and recommend any changes I may need to do and I would get them done quickly. Remember it takes teamwork!

Showing your home

Don't turn them down period! It's a total pain showing the home, this part is difficult but you have be ready at all times. The potential buyers you turned down will be off to next property pronto, trust.

This is how I was successful in getting my home sold in a down market. Yep coming to grips with the price point was guttural and never turning down a showing is disruptive but I sold within very, very short time frame and at price I was happy with considering the market.

Visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens...Ooohh talk about eye candy!

Plan a visit to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens...Ooohh talk about eye candy! Let's take a little tour together and enjoy a flora extravaganza escape in Atlanta today, ok?

Upon entering the lobby I was greeted by a friendly staff member who briefed this rascally gal group (my cohorts Sharon, Peggy and me) of all the treasures that lay in front of us. This was going to be a smashing day! In the lobby I was WOWED by the sight of a spectacular Dale Chihuly glass masterpiece, the way it was suspended from the ceiling was an engineering feat in itself!

When us gals walked outside we were greeted by an old friend of mine who needed to borrow my hat. I couldn't refuse because it was such a sunny day and I know how the harsh sun can effect his health.

Talk about eye candy at the ATL Botanical Gardens, check it out for yourself! Lavender daydreams await you here with the hibiscus and this beautiful hydrangea flora species.

Drop by the Fuqua Orchid Center and you'll find Phalaenopsis, Ladyslipers (my fav), Cymbidiums, Oncidiums in a reflecting pool and scads of other odd species to delight you! Some looked they were going to gobble us up and others looked liked exotic spiders...too cool. Word of caution to curly heads...bring a ponytail holder when entering the Orchid Center...major curl explosions and frizz will happen, trust.

I was keen on finding some creatures at the ATL Botanical Gardens and I was not disappointed. Have a look for yourself, turtles, exotic frogs, and winged beauties are here just begging you to photograph them. I obliged. Click here for really colorful dragon fly photo previous posted on another blog, I promise you won't be disappointed! I had to shoot the frogs through their glass tanks so there is bit of glare on the pics.

Welcome to the Conservatory, the wildest looking species hang out here! The long vines hanging down are actually tree roots, it was crazy wild viewing it in person.

Yep, there's Peg hanging out in the conservatory, she's pretty wild, take my word for it...I won't put in print what shenanigans she gets into. Wow, looks like we should have gotten Sharon to the snack stand a lot sooner! Do you think these orchids tastes like chicken???

Here are a few snaps of a Bromeliad, Haliconia, and what I think may be some species of Jack in Pulpits. Not everything was labeled so if you know what this is please chime in, ok? Not sure what the last pictured epiphytic species is either.

The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is big on art also, here a few handmade glass flowers floating in the outside pond, positively exquisite I'd say. These works of floating art are by the Cohn-Stone Studios.

Those that know me & read my blog know I couldn't end this garden journey without a mention of a butterfly. These babys were fluttering and landing all over me, hey they tickled!!! Here is one photo capture that my friend Peg happen to snap.

You gotta make time to visit the Atlanta Botanical Gardens when you get a chance. They have a whole list of happenings so be sure to check out website and make plans to visit...and for goodness sake don't forget your camera!

Your home is in tip top shape inspection wise - Check

Yep that is what is keeping me from buying your home. I was in town for 5 days and I was ready, willing and qualified to buy your home baby, but YOU missed out! I tried multiple times to see your home but YOU were unwilling to let me, a serious buyer in to see your home.

Home seller excuse #1 - "We are on vacation and don't want to show the home while we are away". Say what? You just missed a weeks worth of showings, not smart man.

Home seller excuse #2 - "We won't show until after 7:00pm, that's when we get home from work." Ok, I'll look at your competition down the street; they understand the realities of selling in today's market.

Well you as the home seller might be the reason your home is still on the market. You have to show it in order to sell it!

Your excuses lead me to believe you must not be a serious seller. Too bad because I left town and bought another home very near yours.

By the way I still see your home is still on the market 2 months later after I've left your town.

Get comfortable you may be there a while!

While my staging business Redesigned Spaces specializes in occupied homes the sentiment Maureen conveys is still the same. I've never forgotten her wise words written in this blog, I'm sure you won't either. As I see homes around me lowering their price and going into a short sale I know many could have been helped by staging advice or a bit of redesign.

Dear Mr. Seller,

You contacted my company 3 months ago and requested a staging proposal for your home. It's in a premier Portland neighborhood and you said you knew it needed some help before listing. You'd already bought another home and were packing up your things to move out in a few days.

When I arrived to view your home, it was surprising to see a huge pool table in your dining room! We laughed together about that and also the long heavy dark velvet drapes! Your home needed major cleaning and packing up of many small items. I knew we could help you!

We'd be able to work with most of your furniture that you'd be leaving behind, and we'd provide the necessary missing pieces as well as accessories, art, trees & plants, etc. as needed. We discussed that if we were going to work together, I'd give you a detailed list that would include which furniture pieces to leave behind as well as some easy cosmetic improvements that you could do yourself.

You told me that your listing agent did not believe in home staging. I was surprised to hear this, because I thought that your home was one of the better candidates for staging that I've seen this year, but I kept my opinion to myself. I told you that our company keeps track of our staging statistics, and we're proud of them. I knew we could help you!

Later that day I emailed you a very cost-effective proposal that included staging your home using your furniture and providing accessories and other items from our inventory. We'd stage your home to make it appealing to your target buyer. Our proposal also included quality digital photos for the online listing ... critical in today's challenging market. I knew we could help you!

Later, I was disappointed that you decided not to stage your home. Looking at the online listing, it was a shock to see the photos of your home! They're dark, out of focus, crooked, and don't even show the best features of your home. I won't show them here because that wouldn't be discreet, but I noticed the heavy velvet drapes are still there, and your furniture is not in the right position to showcase the space. The photos are about the worst I've ever seen. I knew we could have helped you!

After 6 weeks on the market I noticed that you took a $30,000 price reduction! After another 4 weeks, I saw that your price had now dropped $50,000!   Hmmm ... your agent discouraged you from staging (even though you would have paid for it) but has no problem recommending that you drop your price by $50K?

Wow! Staging your home with a professional staging company would have cost a tiny fraction of your first price reduction -- but you decided to drop your price by $50,000 instead.   How does that make sense from a financial viewpoint?

The sad thing is, today I drove by your home again on my way to staging one of your neighbor's homes, and saw the new sign addition now hanging from your "For Sale" sign ...

Mr. Seller ~ We really did try to help you! I wish we could have.

Go seasonal with shells for staging and redesign touches

Go seasonal with sea shell arrangements for staging & redesign touches that are easy, quick and inexpensive. I find these projects are something anyone can do, even the kids can get creative and have fun!

When using creative ideas for staging a home it's done to keep the home buyers interested and linger a bit longer. Ideal furniture & accessory placements are utilized to enhance the property, it helps most buyers envision a lifestyle for themselves. Then for the redesign clients, the ideas are something they can remember and do it themselves when the next summer season rolls around.

Here are a few seasonal ideas with sea shell arrangements!

Layer the natural color sand then add a black layer, I swirled mine to give it a windswept look. Then I added another layer of the natural sand topped off w/ an assortment of shells.

You can make the burnished shells yourself by adding a smidge of of craft store wax here and there on the shell (it comes in a small pot & I used a burnished silver color) then lightly mist it with silver paint. Wherever you put the colored wax your sliver paint won't stick to the parts you've put the wax on. Then lightly sponge off the excess paint and wait for it to dry. Or you can just go buy them to make it easier!

Add some sea grass to a sand & shell arrangement by twisting the grass before putting it in to give it a wispy look.

Sea Life arrangement in wooden bowl. Add sand, glass pebbles (which brings to mind of water droplets), an assortment of shells and a few starfish. I added a paperweight with a sea life theme to vary the height.

You're loony...but your buyer's don't need to know

Yes I get it, you've got a great sense of whimsy! Maybe you're a bit loony too but your potential buyers don't need to know. In fact the signs you've hung on your walls will conjure up all kinds negative thoughts in the minds of potential buyers viewing your home.

Please resist the urge to keep those witty signs up after I've advised you to take them down and pack 'em away. Now I'm no kill-joy, I'm just looking at your property though the buyer's eyes.

When you put your home on the market it is now a product that must appeal to the masses. You must disconnect emotionally from your home now and think toward the future!

Don't plead with me that these signs add to the charm of your home. That ain't gonna fly! These gems need to go and pronto.

On the Welcome Matt:

Go Away! ~ This one does make me giggle...but goodness gracious what a way to entice buyers.
We Serve only the Finest Wines...Did you Bring any? ~ I enjoy the finest wines too but do you want your buyer's knowing you have to beg for booze?

In the Kitchen:

Coffee & Buns Make the World a Better Place ~ I guess it depends on how fresh those buns really are.
I use the Smoke Alarm for a Timer ~ Home inspection pronto!

Stairway to Heaven ~ Yowsa, I have visions of an investigative news show inspecting just how clean those hotel rooms are, it ain't pretty folks!

So you still think potential buyers will appreciate your loony signs? Think again, your sense of whimsy will send them negative subliminal messages. Is Your Pie Hole Keeping You From Landing The Job?

While on styling and redesign jobs I’ve found it’s best to first keep my pie hole shut and let the client describe what they want from me. It can be hard trying to keep my personal style preferences from spewing out of my mouth. What, what, what you say??? Isn’t that what I’m supposed to be doing, telling the client what styling selections they need to make their home oh so fabulous?

Let me explain, this post is about the client's preferences for a certain style and me helping them achieve this look for dwelling not staging to sell. Yes, you still have to ask all the pertinent questions before going to the job. When a client calls for advice on how to help them style their home it’s up to me to take their vague idea of what style they have in mind and then I explain how I can help them.

When I get to the home they’ll still have lot of questions about the process and that’s no problem. I go around the home and ask what they like or may not like about certain pieces that they already own. It helps us determine what style they feel drawn to.

The past few jobs frankly had me scratching my head. My clients have told me previous people they've hired counseled them to get rid of what they already owed and loved and were advised go down the stylist’s chosen route. Kind of impersonal and can you say a cha-ching route to boot?

Let’s just say that route led to a dead end for the previous stylist.

Sure the client may not have all the pieces they need to complete the look they are trying to achieve, but we work around what they have and make notes for the future purchases.

The Pottery Barn look is still popular and trying to make that happen with 3 red monkeys, a bowl of left over pebbles and shells from a cherished family holiday, mismatched furniture, a series of collectible lighthouses isn’t going to be easy. But it can be done using my crafty ideas and a list of suggested future purchases will complete the look!

So by remembering to shut your pie hole first and listening about their preferred style you’ll help them achieve that look they long for. Hey it’s all about them!

Using your creative abilities to expand your business & client base (photos)

In conducting business with my clients and associates I let them know I have the ability to help them beyond room redesign & preparing their home for sale as a stager/property stylist. While they may not need one of the extra services I provide at that moment, I’ve planted the seed and when the time comes hopefully they will keep me in mind or refer me to friends and family.

The advantage is that they already know me I’ve been in their home between 2 and 6 hours and in that time I’ve started to develop a relationship. I seem to have the most pleasant clients, so lucky me huh? I sure think so!

Whether it's floral design, custom artwork or small party planning I can help them out. Heck, I can even make them a beautiful bracelet or a pair of sparkly earrings for that party too.

Here are a few design pieces for a client that called for an elegant but natural look in a lakeside setting for her holiday party. Coming up with ideas and themes for holiday parties are fun and when it's time for the installations it makes you think on your feet. For example if they need a custom tree topper, be prepared to whip one up. My vehicle is usually packed even for the smallest of jobs so I can accommodate the little extras a client may need or want pronto.

A removable European hand tied bouquet accented with pheasant feathers & berries in my client's container. This design enabled the client to still use her favorite accessory year round. All she had to do was pick up the bouquet, it stays in place to be packed away.

Copper sparkle adds a bit more drama to the fireside table piece while pods, moss & preserved boxwood are used lending it the more natural look. This design needed to be more compact to allow for guests use the coffe table.

Below a garland of designer pine with feathered birds in moss nests, berries, pine cones, mixed greenery and a bit of holiday sparkle for the credenza. The copper sparkle mesh that was woven in the pine garland doesn't show up in the pictures, too bad...cause it was the perfect touch!

So go ahead and expand your business and client base by using your creative abilities. Whatever talents you may have let your clients know! They may need your services now or remember you for the future.

Butterflies, fish, flippers, and one colorful bum = fun in the sun in Destin, Florida

Got a few minutes? Go get your cup of tea or coffee I'll wait. Ok now, let's take a photo journey and you'll see some fish that were tickling my feet, butterflies that were providing the fall color display, dancing birds, one very colorful bum, beyond gorgeous sunsets and don't forget about those flippers!

The hustle and bustle of the prime season had passed and the beaches were still warm and welcoming the first week in October.

Let's get up early and catch a glorious sunrise before heading down to the beach ok? I was lucky to catch a bird soaring overhead in this shot. This mornings sunrise wasn't as spectacular as the previous day shown below but it's still great to get up early and catch a sunrise!

Humm...looks like someone was here before us.

Maybe it was this guy???

Ahhh...to swim like a fish with these baby's on! As youngsters we would lightly pinch tap a foot or leg while swimming underwater while the counterpart watches the victim person from afar, the water is way too clear here for that type of fun.

These guys were tickling my feet! I saw a crab to scurrying on the bottom and watched as he buried himself as I was approaching, then when I was digging around him, he raised and opened his claws while his body stayed buried. That was cool to see! If only I had an underwater camera you could have seen it too!

The butterflies photographed above were kind that were flying over the azure blue water as I was relaxing on a raft and the fuzzy Oleander caterpillar was munching on lunch. Life is good!

You do it like this...you put your right foot in and take your left foot out... ok stop, that girl is watching us again!

How peaceful...another perfect ending to a fun day!

Well this is the end of this little holiday and I gotta get back to work so I'll leave you with the colorful bum I promised in the title. Not what you expected??? Tsk, tsk on you!
