redesigned spaces: How to update an old mirror frame to a more transitional look - 10/05/10 12:27 PM
How to update a mirror frame to a more transitional look. Do you have a mirror that you wish had a different look? Maybe you saw a brand new one with a different finish you long for and now it's begging you to buy it!
Before you shell out the $$$ on the new mirror try this project! It's easy and you can change & layer any of the finishes to suit your styling needs. In the example below I didn't want to get rid of the gold entirely because I wanted the look of mixed metals, so I let a … (75 comments)

Here are tips on how to get your home sold in today's market and it takes teamwork baby! Teamwork between you, your RE agent and your family members, everybody has to get in the game. So get ready to read, learn and get busy so you can sell your home. Every selling circumstance is different but this is how I did it successfully and you can too.

redesigned spaces: Is Your Pie Hole Keeping You From Landing The Job? - 02/23/10 07:28 PM
While on styling and redesign jobs I’ve found it’s best to first keep my pie hole shut and let the client describe what they want from me. It can be hard trying to keep my personal style preferences from spewing out of my mouth. What, what, what you say??? Isn’t that what I’m supposed to be doing, telling the client what styling selections they need to make their home oh so fabulous?

Let me explain, this post is about the client's preferences for a certain style and me helping them achieve this look for dwelling not staging to sell. Yes, … (49 comments)

redesigned spaces: Using your creative abilities to expand your business & client base (photos) - 01/11/10 12:08 PM
In conducting business with my clients and associates I let them know I have the ability to help them beyond room redesign & preparing their home for sale as a stager/property stylist. While they may not need one of the extra services I provide at that moment, I’ve planted the seed and when the time comes hopefully they will keep me in mind or refer me to friends and family.
The advantage is that they already know me I’ve been in their home between 2 and 6 hours and in that time I’ve started to develop a relationship. I seem to … (33 comments)

redesigned spaces: How a Home Remodeler enhanced their portfolio with Staging - 07/21/09 01:35 PM
I was contacted by Bill Weidmann of Atlanta's award winning Weidmann Remodeling & Renovation  to inquire about staging some 'after' photos for their portfolio.
While quality materials and superb craftsmanship are the bones of a room, it's the finishing details that give it a warm & fuzzy feeling in person and in photos.

I was thrilled to say the least because I was well aware of this company's solid reputation. Then to be working with professional photographer Jan Stittleburg (located in Atlanta) was the icing on the cake. Ooh... I'd hope to sneak-a-peek through her lens, think she'll … (25 comments)

redesigned spaces: I exposed myself to a new crowd...and there's photos to prove it! - 06/17/09 01:25 PM
No, not that way silly...
When my friend Sharon Norris owner of Synergy in Silk Floral Designs told me she was going to do a 'Lunch & Learn' seminar about tablescapes I begged asked her if she wanted any help. She was gracious enough to let me help and I was thrilled because I love creating tablescapes!
Well to tell you the truth my friend is always helping me to expand my SOI (sphere of influence) and I'm grateful to her for helping me to expose myself to more potential clients.
The luncheon event was held at the lovely 1818 Club located atop the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce building. After the … (42 comments)

redesigned spaces: Dang it! Are you or your client hesitant about removing family photos lining the walls? - 04/26/09 02:44 PM
It's usually because they don't want to go through the trouble of patching then repainting the holes. It's a necessary pain in the bum that needs to be done. The rewards by completing the task will outway the inconvenience twofold, heck maybe even a billonfold. Is that even a word? I'm going with it anyway even though the spellchecker disagrees.
Here is an idea for the homeowner who doesn't want to go through the trouble nixes the idea to remove the family photo wall. I recommend removing the photo, then add a swatch of textured fabric that coordinates with the area.
I needed to tweek her idea because of the … (48 comments)

redesigned spaces: Recycled Chair Project ~ So easy even I can do it! - 08/26/08 05:08 PM
Do You Have An Old Chair That Needs A Little Spruce Up Or Some TLC?
Well thanks to my fellow stagers for inspiring me to tackle this project I now have a new chair for my room. I now can share how easy this for my clients too! So thank you Ginger Foust, Sharon Tara & other creative stagers that so generously share your ideas here.
This was pretty easy so if you have an old chair or maybe a frame of a chair give it a go! I had two identical chairs but only one had a seat that was kaput.

Well when I undid the … (47 comments)

redesigned spaces: A Fun And Colorful Fishtank With No Upkeep! - 07/11/08 12:12 PM
These are so easy to put together all you need is the following;
1 - A tall clear glass container.
2 - Assorted shells and starfish.
3 - Clear glass pebbles with the flat bottoms .
4 - Glass fish, I purchased the ones pictured here
 from Pier 1.
5 - Cream color see through leaves to look like seaweed. These can be found in most craft stores.
6 - Sand.

Play around with the components till you get your desired look. There's no right or wrong way, only your way to do this! I shifted my sand to one side and angled the … (33 comments)

redesigned spaces: Easy, last minute Springtime or Easter centerpiece! - 03/21/08 10:47 AM
Need a centerpiece pronto and don't have design experience? Just go to the local craft store and pick up the following;
1- Terra cotta saucer, the one in the picture is about 11 inches.
2- Excelsior or moss, I used light green excelsior in this piece.
3- Small grapevine wreath, it's about 10 inches.
4- Ceramic eggs- I used white and brown matte ceramic eggs, the speckled ones look cute too.
5- Throw in a bird and nest if you want, no this one doesn't match the scale but it looked good!
Lay the grapevine wreath inside the saucer, spread the moss around, lay in the eggs … (21 comments)
