My competitor, the competition, That Other Firm...
Really, who cares???? If you have ever watched a hockey game (which we do a lot of in Metro Detroit), you see two teams play rough, hit each other, sometimes, literally knocking the other players teeth out.
Ouch! I know, a rough visual. Anyway they play super, duper hard and rough; and guess what happens at the end of most games? This is going to blow some Realtors away!
Players from opposing teams shake hands and some even hug. So, when in the heck did we stop playing nice in real estate? Here's why I ask that question.
Keller Williams is bringing the Short Sale Mastery Tour to Metro Detroit. This is an amazing tour with Gene Rivers, a very tip, Top Producer & Iconic Agent and author of some GRI and CRS courses. Top Notch Trainer.
I sent out an invite to the agents and the brokers in the area. Most received it very warmly and I am to the point now, where we have just as many people attending from outside offices as there are KW agents attending!
What shocked me to the point that I was speechless, was the response by some agents, managers and brokers. Some of these were in writing (email) which baffled me even more. I'm talking nasty stuff. Yowsers!
There is no recruiting or asking agents to move offices during this event. It's held for KW agents. We aren't trying to sell them on KW. They are already here, they don't need sold!!
We want to teach them how to properly, efficiently, painlessly work with people to buy and sell Short Sales.
We have agents in our office who live in Northville, Novi, Farmington Hills, Livonia, Plymouth, Canton, etc., etc. The point is that we do business all over the place and we want to reach out to our neighbors and allow them to attend this event and we got slammed.
We want them to attend for two reasons:
1. It's to my advantage to be a good neighbor and give them good Realtor training. PR, easy deals, etc, etc.
2. Most agents don't have any true systems, models or standards for doing their short sales and we would like for all of us to be on the same page so that we ALL have easier deals together!! Here's a good article from RisMedia about just that http://rismedia.com/2011-06-06/how-short-sales-can-be-the-top-clique-in-real-estate/
So, next time a competing broker or neighboring broker sends out one of those horrible, nasty, evil emails inviting you or your team to a training event, don't always think the worst.
Seek first to understand, give them the benefit of the doubt and just ask about it. And if you want to attend, I still have space! Lol!
It might just save a deal or twenty for you and your team!!
