coaching: Diversify And Stay in The Real Estate Industry - 08/19/07 02:03 AM
Since late 2006, 128 major US lenders have either filed bankruptcy, closed their doors or merged with another bank. The sub-prime crises have left over 50,000 mortgage employees out of a job and this isn't over yet. Realtors are also exiting the industry. It has taking us a number of years to get into this mess and it will take a few more to get out of it.
This is the time to work on business plans, get focused, do training but everyone also need to pay their house payments and monthly expenses so that they don't end up as a … (4 comments)

coaching: Striving for Balance Between Work And Personal Life - 08/03/07 07:54 PM
When I was in my first marriage, it cost me my family to be out of balance in my life. I didn't get it and it was already too late by the time I woke-up, that becoming a workaholic will not go unnoticed. I was grossly neglecting my kids and my wife for wanting to be successful in business and to be a good husband-provider.
I didn't know any different back then. I was thought that's the way it was supposed to be. To-day, I know different. I recognize that balancing our lives is one of the most beneficial things we … (4 comments)

coaching: The Fork in The Road - 07/26/07 01:30 AM
When I was 4 years old, I still recall how I wasn't responding to the words no, don't and not.  I was free and was willing to create anything.  Then, as I was growing up my parents, brothers, family, community and society taught me the true meaning of those words and the expectations they had of me.  How I should show up in the world. To-day, I'm 52 years old and for some time now, I have been working on reducing and eliminating those words as much as possible from my vocabulary.  Does this mean I'm becoming a four year old … (3 comments)

coaching: How to use Life Balance Software in Your Business-Part 2 - 07/19/07 05:03 PM
Let's just say that you are already using Life Balance software by now to actively balance the often conflicting demands of your career and personal life.  And you understand the value and benefit you receive by managing your goals and tasks based on what is important to you, rather then arbitrarily filling up your calender with things to do.  You may be asking "I'm a Realtor or a Mortgage Broker so how could I use the software to run my business".
You would start by setting up your business in Life Balance just like you would create an automated car factory.  You would start creating all your goals … (2 comments)

coaching: The Healing of the Mortgage Industry - 07/02/07 07:12 PM
A number of things that have happened recently that are being connected to each other which has prompted me to write this post.
First, I wrote a post in ActiveRain about "It's YOUR fault-not MINE!- Who is looking out for ways to save financially distressed homeowners from foreclosure these days?"  It was an attempt to rally the membership of ActiveRain about 35K members to see what could be done as a community to help.  I have received one comment from a mortgage broker being very defensive so I responded by saying: "I must be honest to say that, this isn't the response I was … (4 comments)

coaching: Nine ways to plan for Small Business Success - 06/25/07 09:34 AM
As a small business owner, your whole goal is to start and manage a successful business that will provide for you, your family, and your employees for many years to come.  In order to make this vision a reality, you have to think positively .  It may sound trite, but thinking successfully will help you make your organization a success.  You will be more effective in dealing with employees and customers, concentrating on technical issues, and coming up with creative solutions if you believe that in the end it will all be worthwhile. Successful business people respond to their setbacks with a … (6 comments)

coaching: Top 10 Time Management Tips - 06/21/07 03:44 PM

Organizational skills are perhaps the most undervalued trait of successful business men and women.  Today's business environment requires its leaders to manage the incredible amount of information from different sources they are inundated with each day and to be able to process it effectively.  Here are 10 techniques and strategies that you can use to manage your time more effectively:

COMPLETE A BUSINESS AUDIT EACH MONTHTake a look at your business and make a note of your top priorities for each day/week/month. Make a decision on where you want to focus your energy and then look at everything else you have been … (7 comments)

coaching: So what makes a manager a good leader? - 06/14/07 02:09 AM
Let's first look at the difference between these two terms which are often used interchangeably.
The Merriam-Webster Dictionary Online defines a manager as "a person who conducts business or household affairs" and a leader as "a person who has commanding authority or influence."  Thus, management deals with the everyday chores associated with a job while leadership deals with people.  According to Stephen Iscoe, "If given the choice, most people would rather follow a leader than be managed by a manager.  To manage is to control and manipulate.  To lead is to guide, influence, and persuade...things are managed and people are led."  … (3 comments)

coaching: It’s YOUR fault-not MINE! - 06/10/07 10:10 PM
Who is looking out for ways to save financially distressed homeowners from foreclosure these days?
I just notice a lot of talk, meetings but no action between lenders, investors, housing experts and our government.  Everyone is pointing a finger which is the usual first human reaction, no one wants to take responsibility.
Cities with heavy minority populations are being hit the hardest especially in metropolitan areas such as Ohio, Michigan and Denver.
If I was still a mortgage banker (which I'm not anymore), I would create solutions for families facing rising mortgage costs as their sub-prime loans reset to higher interest rates this … (7 comments)
