Flowers are my therapy. I love working in my flower beds. I enjoy very much sharing my flowers with neighbors and co-workers. Not just anything will grow here in the coastal area of North Carolina. Sweet fragrance and beautifully vibrant deep red are my new climbing roses, "High Society" as a part of my flower beds. They seem to be thriving in the sandy soil here on the coast. Weekly waterings have helped and the fact they are on the sunny side of the house and climbing the trellis which my husband installed for me on Mother's Day. My Gardenias also have enjoyed a great summer with many large flowers on every bush. Admired by the birds for the lush protection they offered for bird nests, and easy to clip and root, Gardenias have proven to be one of my favorite flowers. With the mild weather we've had thus far, even my tomatoes are still producing tomatoes for the dinner table. The winter Camelias are in bloom right now and the Water Lillies. North Carolina is a great state to try gardening as the weather is very moderate. It is also nice to be a Realtor here and sell Real Estate where the coastal landscaping allows for many unusual as well as the usual flowers. The houses I have listed for sale here in Coastal North Caolina have Bitter Panicum growing in the sand along with beach grasses and other colorful flowers such as Wild Daisys.
