Luxury Condos in the National News - 09/19/08 08:37 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
Los Angeles Luxury condos have made it to the east coast in a manner of speaking. Mireya Navarro wrote an article for the New York Times entitled "Downsizing in Los Angeles: From Mansion to $47 Million Condo." The article appears inspired by Candy Spelling's recent purchase of a luxury condo, but Navarro goes on to outline all of the wonderful attributes featured by a luxury condo.
Vertical expansion began in New York ages ago, but with Los Angeles comes a new level of luxury lifestyles. Luxury condos are built in small communities with restaurants, stores and services to … (0 comments)

Candy Spelling Upgrades Her Home - 09/17/08 06:53 AM
by Coco
Candy Spelling is the latest celebrity to invest in luxury condos. Aaron Spelling's widow became famous long ago for the level of luxury she enjoyed in her 56,500 square foot French Chateau-style mansion in Beverly Hills, and now she's moving "up". Spelling's upgrade from estate living to luxury condo is just another example of how anything is possible with a luxury condo.
When shopping for a luxury condo, Spelling knew she wanted a living space in a central location that would suit all her luxury needs. Her answer was to combine two luxury condos into one glamorous home. She … (0 comments)

Having IT All - 09/16/08 05:58 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
I'm a big believer in having it all.  If you can have it all (without hurting anyone) why wouldn't you?  A colleague referred a client to me recently; the client was a young widow with grown children moving to the area for the first time.  She had originally come to my colleague looking for a house, but after listening to the clients wants and needs my colleague referred her to me for a luxury condo.  At first the client was extremely reticent.  She didn't think she wanted to live in a condo, because she hadn't seen what the … (0 comments)

When Downsizing isn't Just a Choice. - 09/16/08 05:51 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
Judy had a great life.  She was happy, independent and active.  She owned her own home and ran a successful business.  The future was bright and her life made sense.  Then she got her diagnosis and in an instant everything changed.  The doctors were optimistic but they didn't pull any punches, she was in for a long fight.  Suddenly everything that had once made sense no longer fit.  The beautiful home with five bedrooms which had once been a joy and a comfort was now too far away from the hospital and too much space to manage. She … (0 comments)

Selling a Condo After Death - 09/15/08 02:24 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
I frequently have family members call me with condo listings after the death of a dear family member.  There is a need for expertise and sensitivity in matters such as these.  After the death of a loved one there are financial burdens and issues that need to be addressed with speed and proficiency but with an awareness of how emotionally charged the situation can be.
In most cases the condo will need to be prepped and staged to sell quickly.  This requires an experienced eye, some one who knows what the current market is and has their finger … (0 comments)

Investing in Luxury Appliances - 09/15/08 02:14 PM

Once you are settled into your luxury condo, it's time to really invest in your lifestyle. Look around you. Your walls are the perfect color; your furniture is all in harmony with its surroundings, and your floors . . . your floors need help. You've invested in high quality plush carpets and perfectly designed imported rugs, now you need to invest in their week-to-week maintenance.
This is where your luxury appliances come into play; personally I am a fan of the Dyson floor cleaning system. The great thing about Dyson vacuums is they're designed for someone who wants impeccable … (0 comments)

Crunching the Condo Numbers - 09/13/08 04:27 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
The economy has changed significantly in the last two years.  With gas prices at an astronomical high, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that business is changing and about to change even more.  While the real estate market continues to stumble there is one area of the market that is stepping firmly into the limelight; the luxury condo market. Many of my clients are in the financial fields and look at condos on a price per square foot basis. Some of the funniest conversations I have had have been trying to explain to someone from Goldman … (0 comments)

Consider living vertically. Buying a luxury condominium is a great way to enter the housing market.  It's infinitely more economical and offers you all of the benefits of building equity … (1 comments)

Luxury Condos and Divorce - 09/11/08 10:43 AM
by Coco Clayman Cook
It's never easy when a marriage ends.  Not only are there emotions to untangle there are also investments, property and a life to dismantle. Real estate is often one of the hardest assets for a couple to split after their marriage has ended. Community Property laws are meant to protect us during emotional times. However, sometimes it seems as if those laws only make it tougher.
Because properties are so often sold during a divorce in order to ensure an equitable division of assets, it is important for attorneys to make sure they have the most competent, … (0 comments)
