west la home buying: Renewal - 04/22/09 04:07 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook Spring is a time for renewal. Even the religious holidays at this time of year are about renewal. Spring is a great time to look around your condo and consider how you can breathe new life into the space. Often it doesn't take much. Consider taking one room and doing an easy weekend makeover. A fresh coat of paint in the foyer can make a world of difference for your entire home. Simply changing the accent pillows on the sofa or on your bed can transform a room. I am a big fan of fresh flowers largely because

west la home buying: Getting Creative - 03/25/09 11:06 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook When times get tough, the tough get creative. Now is not the time to give up, now is the time to get smart. For me getting smart means utilizing technology. Right now business people are slashing their operating budgets to accommodate tough markets. Many are them are cutting out their advertising budgets. I understand the need to lower overhead, but I don't agree with cutting your advertising budget, especially when there are some great ways to advertise for pennies. If you are not utilizing the power of the internet to market your business then you are seriously missing

west la home buying: Greening Your Lights - 02/18/09 06:17 PM
By Coco Clayman Cook Do you remember as a child there was always one adult who constantly reminded everyone in the house to turn out lights when they left the room? Now more than ever it is important for all of us to adopt this attitude. By turning lights off when we leave a room we can substantially lower our electricity bill and our carbon footprint. Another way to help the environment is to pick five light bulbs in your home to convert to Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs (CFLs). Ideally, these should be bulbs that are frequently used but not in high

west la home buying: Greening Your Coffee - 02/17/09 11:13 AM
By Coco Clayman Cook Coffee is one of the great joys in life and by bringing your own cup to your local coffee shop you can save a substantial amount of paper and post consumer waste. Imagine a small mountain built entirely out of coffee cups and you can quickly imagine how much paper could be saved if everyone simply brought their own! Of course there are always times when you get caught out and need a quick cup. There are still ways you can reduce your carbon footprint while using a paper cup. If you use a "jacket" (the insulator that

west la home buying: LA Condo Market Update - 02/12/09 09:45 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook There is an old Chinese curse that says "May you live in interesting times." I'm not certain who we ticked off, but we are certainly living in interesting times. The current market is seeing some very interesting trends, not all of them bad, but not all of them good. For the buyers who were waiting for the bottom, I am loathe to tell you that in certain areas there will be no bottom - every property is unique - every Seller is unique and their situation is unique. Everyday the news has more bad news and its like poison

west la home buying: The Business Woman's Secrets - 01/22/09 05:19 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook Let's face it- being a successful business woman is a deeply rewarding endeavor, it may not be easy but it's worthwhile. Of course there are many secrets to making it relatively easy. One of my favorite business secrets is my condominium. Centrally located, my condo allows me easy access to any event that I might need to attend. It also keeps me close enough to my office that I never have to worry about commute time. The hours I would have spent commuting are devoted to my business, my health and the pursuit of happiness, which is a

west la home buying: Gentlemen's Quarters - 01/20/09 09:23 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook I recently helped a smart young gentleman buy his first condominium. A recent law school grad with a bright future ahead of him, he needed a smart investment that would help him in his trajectory to being a partner of a prestigious law firm without hobbling him financially. With my help he found the ideal condominium in a great building. He not only scored a great address he also made a great investment. For less money than he would have paid in rent he is building equity in a home that will serve him on many levels. A
