westside los angeles: Self Talk - 04/24/09 04:32 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Self talk is what we say to ourselves throughout the day.  The power of self talk can not be under estimated.  If you are having a rough day, stop for a second and consider what it is that you are saying to yourself.  Are you saying things like, "Why is this happening to me?"  or  "Why does this always happen to me?"  What you think becomes what you say and what you say becomes what you do.  If you think negative thoughts and talk to yourself in a negative way you will expect negative things to happen.  You … (2 comments)

westside los angeles: Greening Your Water - 04/01/09 09:57 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Now that we all know the benefits of proper hydration it is normal to see bottled water offered everywhere.  This is a lovely thing but also creates an abundance of plastic bottles and not all of them can be morphed into cute reusable shopping bags.  A great way to reduce plastic waste is to install a water filter in your home.  Water filters generally pay for themselves very quickly and have far reaching benefits.  I always have a big liter of water with me wherever I go and I do have a water filter in my kitchen. but … (1 comments)

westside los angeles: A Quiet Moment - 03/30/09 04:25 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
A Quiet Moment
Are you ever overwhelmed?  Does it feel as though your life is running you instead of you running your life?  It happens to all of us.  Things get out of control.  It is pointless to think the day will come when you will have it all figured out and nothing will ever ruffle your feathers again.  Instead why not have tools to reduces the stress and strain, focus your mind and regroup your energies?
I call it taking a quiet moment.  I can do it almost anywhere.  I simply stop moving and center my breath.  … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Self Acualization - 03/30/09 04:19 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
I have always been interested in self perception and self actualization.  As a psychology student at UCLA I was profoundly interested in self actualization.  I find it fascinating that some people will work toward being themselves fully, and enjoy the world fully through their individual experience.
Equally I am astounded by the percentage of the population that does not feel entitled to be themselves fully.  If you understand fully that you are capable of doing anything that you want to, if you understand that you have the power to determine your own lifestyle, there is no limit to … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Marketing For the Ages - 03/26/09 09:39 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Marketing changes.  Strike that, EFFECTIVE Marketing changes.  If you are unwilling tochange your marketing strategies then you are unwilling to be as successful as you can be.  For those out there who are still handing out refrigerator magnets but don't have a website or a Blog, the world is passing you by.
Consider the recent Presidential campaign.  No matter what your politics, no matter what your beliefs there is one fact that all of the pundits on both sides agreed to the morning after the election.  Barack Obama ran a campaign that was focused on Internet Marketing. His … (2 comments)

westside los angeles: Attending Seminars - 03/25/09 10:42 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
As part of my ongoing commitment to growth, I make it a regular practice to attend seminars on topics that I think will help me to be a better person and or develop my business.  It's important to constantly refresh your knowledge and commitment.Attending a seminar can be a much needed break from business as usual.  It is a great way to meet new people and more than anything else it is an opportunity to learn something new.
Years ago I mentally charged myself with getting at least one good idea from every seminar I attend.  It is … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Greening Your Water Heater - 03/23/09 01:12 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Another great way to go green is to maximize your water heater's efficiency while reducing its power cost.  In some condominiums you are responsible for your own water heater in others it is a community water heater. One easy way to increase efficiency is to invest in an inexpensive jacket for your water heater. I know that it sounds funny but this will further insulate the heater helping to heat water faster and longer.  Here in sunny California we don't have the bitter cold that the majority of the country suffers through, as a result we tend not … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Feng Shui for the Front Door - 01/03/09 11:59 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Symmetry is one of the single most important elements of Feng Shui where the front entrance is concerned.  A pair of trees or dogs are said to ward off negative energy and allow prosperity and health to flow freely into the space.  If you use living plants make sure they remain healthy and any dead foliage is immediately removed. If you choose statuary make sure that it is in good condition and remains free of chips or debris.
Your front door is your first impression so it only makes sense to keep it neat and tidy, but debris … (1 comments)

westside los angeles: A River in Egypt - 12/16/08 09:39 AM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
Denial is a powerful thing.  While I am a huge fan of positive thinking there is also a need to be realistic.  Zillow.com, a website specializing in real estate news, recently conducted a survey among home owners.  Almost half of the home owners surveyed believed that their home value had either remained the same or had increased in the last year.  The reality is that 74% of the homes in United States have decreased in the last year.
Despite the fact the news bombards the public with daily reports of dropping market values, it seems that many people … (0 comments)

By Coco Clayman-Cook
What service really makes you feel pampered?  Luxury Condominiums in Los Angeles' famed Westside offer such a wide variety of amenities that you literally can pick and choose.  Do you require wine storage?  Would you like tennis courts on the grounds?  Would you like 24 hour concierge services?  How about a media equipped conference room on the ground floor at your disposal?  Would you prefer a heated lap pool in your state-of-the-art gym or would you prefer a romantic roof top pool on the roof of your building with a 360 degree view of the city?

westside los angeles: The Market Update - 10/16/08 09:29 AM
By Coco Clayman Cook
With a signed bailout and the election only days away it seems almost certain that things are about to change, the real question is, "How?"  And while I am interested in the entire market I will confess to being infinitely more interested in the market here in Los Angeles.  In the luxury condo market we have seen definite changes in the last 2 years, but nothing as drastic as the rest of the country.  In fact luxury condominiums actually enjoyed a surge in sales over the summer.  More and more people are realizing that in this economy … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Fall Cleaning Part II - 10/08/08 12:45 PM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Every time the seasons change I view it as an opportunity to conduct a major cleanse of my home and office.  Don't misunderstand me, I have regular cleaning staff that sees to the day to day needs, otherwise I am doing it myself - but let's face it every once in a while something deeper is required.  For Fall cleaning I like to pay particular attention to de-cluttering.  Fall is a time of harvest and bounty and to make room for new things you need to purge the old.
I take time in the fall to go through … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Selling Your Luxury Condo in Todays' Market - 10/06/08 09:10 AM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
We can talk endlessly about the current market and how it may or may not affect all of us for years and months to come, but it's important to remember some fundamental truths.  Markets go up, markets go down. People continue to need homes in which to live.  When possible it is better to buy low and sell high.  When possible, being the important part of that sentence. That time is now.
The reality is that there are people who need to sell their homes right now, in some cases due to divorce, relocation even death.  For others … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Baby Boomers Downsizing to Luxury - 10/04/08 09:11 AM
 by Coco Clayman-Cook
In the 1970's and 80's Baby Boomers were settling down with families of their own. Large homes were purchased on traditional estates, and children were raised. Now, however, these children have children of their own. They've moved on into homes of their own, leaving Baby Boomers to manage large luxury estates with even longer commutes. What's a parent to do? Luxury condos are the answer!
More and more Baby Boomers are downsizing to luxury condos, settling into in-the-city communities of high-rise estates and on-the-spot amenities. Maintenance is taken care of, and commutes are non-existent. With luxury condos large … (3 comments)

westside los angeles: The Single Girls' Guide to Luxury Condo Lifestyle - 10/03/08 07:02 AM
By Coco Clayman-Cook
Times are changing, and so are luxury condos. The days of women living in their parent's home, their sorority homes, and then their husbands' homes are thankfully long gone. It's the twenty-first century, and it's the age of independence. Single women are in a place of power, and they need the home to match. Look out luxury condos!
The great part about luxury condos is that each one comes with entertainment space, living space, and the amenities to accommodate a twenty-four lifestyle. Late night of work and craving the perfect meal? World class dining is mere steps from … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: Luxury Condos in the National News - 09/19/08 08:37 PM
by Coco Clayman-Cook
Los Angeles Luxury condos have made it to the east coast in a manner of speaking. Mireya Navarro wrote an article for the New York Times entitled "Downsizing in Los Angeles: From Mansion to $47 Million Condo." The article appears inspired by Candy Spelling's recent purchase of a luxury condo, but Navarro goes on to outline all of the wonderful attributes featured by a luxury condo.
Vertical expansion began in New York ages ago, but with Los Angeles comes a new level of luxury lifestyles. Luxury condos are built in small communities with restaurants, stores and services to … (0 comments)

westside los angeles: The L.A. Luxury Market - 07/27/08 04:24 PM
In these "interesting times" that we are living in, it is important to remember that value is value.  Forbes.com published a report not too long ago about the most lucrative neighborhoods in the United States, neighborhoods that continue to grow in value despite the current turbulent market trends.  It should come as no surprise to anyone that Los Angeles was featured in the report and that the Westside was singled out as one of the most lucrative neighborhoods in the country.
Forbes particularly singled out the area just south of and including Wilshire Blvd between Ohio and Westgate Avenues. Forbes cited the homes … (1 comments)

westside los angeles: On The Bright Side - 06/25/08 02:25 PM
While no one is overjoyed with the current down turn in housing values there is a new positive note for some LA Condo owners.  The Los Angeles County Assessor, Rick Auerbach, announced recently that a reassessment was done of a group of homes and condominiums purchased between July 1, 2004 and June 30, 2007.  The reassessed value of the homes will result in an average tax savings of $750 on October's bill.
Market Trends have shown us time and again that prices will fluctuate and then once again rally.  While it is small comfort to have reduced taxes during a market … (0 comments)
