Canadian Finance Minister Jim Flaherty has changed some of the rules when it comes to mortgages in Canada. There was some concern that one of the rules would be that home-buyers would have to put a minimum of 10 percent down, instead of only five percent. Another change that was discussed but was not implemented was shortening amortizations from 35 years maximum to 30 years, this also did not happen.
