mckinney isd: 2 McKinney Schools Named to Intel's "School of Distinction" Finalists - 04/20/12 07:50 PM
I'm always excited to brag on McKinney Independent School District whenever I get the chance.
As a REALTOR, I'm aware that having great schools is KEY to the success and growth of a community, so whenever I can share something cool about our schools, I DO!
Just yesterday the MISD Facebook page (become a FAN if you're not) posted a link to their website about a new award that two MISD schools can boast about. The headline read "Minshew Elementary and Dowell Middle School Named Intel Schools of Distinction Finalists".

woken up at 5:30 am to log on to your computer to find out if the snow that has fallen overnight will delay or cancel school? fumbled through a giant stack of papers looking for a school lunch menu to see if you should pack a lunch or risk having your child go hungry if they don't like what's being served that day? tried to find the football schedule to see who is playing at Home on Friday night? … (1 comments)

The cheers of parents are growing to a roar. The boos and tears of children are escalating day by day. Why? The first day of school for the McKinney Independent School District (MISD) is Monday, August 22nd! However, do you know what TIME your child needs to be at school???
Since there are so many schools within the McKinney School District, they have staggered the Start / End times to lessen the number of buses, as well as traffic. Below are the the general hours for the different schools and here is a link to the MISD School Calendar.

School Supplies – McKinney ISD!
Not that I’m counting down or anything – but did you know that you can now count on TWO HANDS the number of days left until school starts???!!!!
And if you’re like me, you can’t wait to send their “whining, “I’m bored”, fighting with their sibling over who looked at whom”, little tush BACK. TO. SCHOOL! mckinney isd: McKinney ISD Proposes Mandated Busing - Are You Signing the Petition? - 02/25/08 09:55 PM
I recently wrote a post about McKinney opening it's 5th Middle School for 2008-09 - Cockrill Middle School. With the new school comes controversy - the zoning. If you look at the map below, you will notice that areas EAST of 75 will need to be bused across town to the WEST side and vice versa. WHY? To encourage DIVERSITY? I think the letter posted on the petition website sums it up very nicely.
