Another Halloween, another chance to dress up my chihuahua, Jessa. This year she rocked a skeleton outfit, also matching our 12-year-old son who was a skeleton/zombie (with a knife through his head!). Then the two hit downtown Hood River for trick-or-treating... Jessa even scored a dog biscuit or two and lots of attention.
Hood River Wrestling Club Gets Its 2012-13 Season Underway
Practices started Monday, October 29th for the Hood River Wrestling Club. The Club, a member of the United States Wrestling Association, is for boys and girls in kindergarten through the 8th grade. It's a non-profit athletic club dedicated to developing not only the physical, but also mental well-being of young athletes. The club's motto is to "develop leaders, teach values, build character, mold champions and changes lives." What more can you ask from a youth activity? Groups are taught in three skill levels, beginner, intermediate/advanced and Middle School. Practices are (0 comments)
Halloween 2012 brought another great evening of trick-or-treating and socializing on Oak Street in downtown Hood River. The entire road, for six+ blocks, was blocked from traffic while shops lavished treats on the valley's hundreds of children who flocked to their storefronts. Young and old alike joined together to socialize, shop and celebrate the occasion. It's so fun to live in a small town and this one totally rocks!

Friday's Foto - Autumn On Whiskey Creek Rd, Hood River
This is one of my favorite roads around Hood River... Whiskey Creek Road is just a mile from the town of Hood River, just off Highway 35. It's never more gorgeous than in autumn with its brilliant colors gracing these towering trees.

Trick-Or-Treat Hood River's Oak Street This Halloween!
Halloween is one of those big events for our little community and we know how to do it right! Outside the town of Hood River, our area is pretty rural and spread far and wide, making trick-or-treating, well, tricky, as it would involve a lot of walking to visit few houses where people probably wouldn't be home anyway. The town of Hood River solved this dilemma and turned it into a party to end all parties while they were at it. Starting at dusk, the town closes main street, aka Oak Street, (12 comments)

Mel took this photo the other day near Hood River. I've seen clouds like this around here quite a bit and even shared some here before, but they always amaze me. I have no idea what natural phenomenon causes such shapes, but it's no wonder some folks believe in UFOs.
Gorge Fruit & Craft Show, Harvest Fest 2012, Oct 20th & 21st
Christmas shopping, anyone? How about stocking up on fruit for canning or jams? Or maybe buy your fall bulbs for glorious spring blooms? It's the perfect time of year to tour the valley, see the fall colors, taste local wine and stock up on fresh fall fruit. The (3 comments)
That's the phrase our 12 year old son, Ben, uses when he does something really well... "Like a boss!" And this is a photo of Ben making a spectacular tackle of the opposing team's ball carrier. Ben's the one on the ground with his back facing the camera with his number, 57, barely showing. Ben plays on the Hood River Gold 5th & 6th Grade Youth Tackle Football team. Their team has had a great season and will play their final game in the play-offs next Saturday.

This is our son, Ben #57, front left, at his football game yesterday. Ben is a lineman on his 5th and 6th grade Hood River football team and yesterday he was blocking a guy nearly twice his size (what do they feed that boy?!). Although Ben's team lost yesterday's game to White Salmon, they fought hard and played a good game, so we're endlessly proud of our team's hard work.
A new wildfire started just outside Hood River last night, along Highway 84 and has grown to over 50 acres. The fire is on very steep terrain making an air assault necessary. Wednesday afternoon, all outdoor school sports were cancelled due to poor air quality throughout the entire Hood River Valley. Besides thick smoke which seems stuck in the valley, ash is floating through the air. My asthma is certainly not enjoying the smoke as I wheeze my way through the afternoon. I took this shot this morning along Highway 84. It (8 comments)

Speechless Sunday - Early Morning on the Farm, Hood River, Oregon
I took this photo from one of our new listings, just off Highway 35, about five miles south of Hood River. It was pretty early and I was shooting into the sun so it's a little dark, but I still love the iconic American scene. The mountains behind the barn almost disappear in the smoke from the Husum, WA wildfire still burning across the river.
