I took the first photo of the top of Mt. Hood at Timberline Ski Resort a couple weeks ago, just before dusk. The second photo is the view from the Timberline Lodge. Oh, and here's the Timberline Lodge, too. You can see the haze from the Dollar Lake Fire, although just days later, the smoke worsened to the point you couldn't even see the mountain. The fire continues to burn and spread.

The Longest Ski and Snowboarding Season In North America: Timberline, Mt. Hood For all you diehard skiers and boarders, Timberline, Mt. Hood is the ultimate destination. Located less than an hour from Hood River and Portland, two ski lifts, The Magic Mile and the Palmer, are open year round, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., as are the Otto Lang and Mile Halfpipe terrain parks. The top of the resort gets an average of 745 inches of snow a year! If skiing isn't your thing, you can't beat Timberline as a hiking and mountain biking destination.
